My dewy-eyed Disney bride, what has tried
Swapping your blood with formaldehyde?
Monsters?
Whiskey-plied voices cried fratricide!
Jesus don't you know that you could've died
(you should've died)
With the monsters that talk, monsters that walk the earth

And she's got red lipstick and a bright pair of shoes
And she's got knee high socks, what to cover a bruise
She's got an old death kit she's been meaning to use
She's got blood in her eyes, in her eyes for you
She's got blood in her eyes for you

Certain fads, stripes and plaids, singles ads
They run you hot and cold like a rheostat, I mean a thermostat
So you bite on a towel
Hope it won't hurt too bad

My dewy-eyed Disney bride, what has tried
Swapping your blood with formaldehyde?
What monsters that talk, monsters that walk the earth

And she says, "I like long walks and sci-fi movies
If you're six foot tall and east coast bred
Some lonely night we can get together
And I'm gonna tie your wrists with leather
And drill a tiny hole into your head"

fixed that for you ;)
I bet this guy was kind of a nerd in high school. What a genius though!
Methinks Florence and Andrew co-write on occasion.
Is this song about Miley Cyrus?  (No; written eight years ago when Ms. Cyrus was, like, 6 years old or something.)

Part of the problem is that Andrew Bird uses big words that most people don't recognize. I have to confess that he's the ONLY artist I've ever listened to that can work the word "onomotopaea" into a lyric.

Lyrics aren't as interesting, but it has been done:

Says BIll: "... you have to admire someone who would even think of naming a song Fake Palindromes..."

Hope I got the quote right. Bill G is the best.
This album cover is fantastic !

Fake palindromes always sound like that. Like someone mimicking Mandarin. Great cover art, agreed.

I believe that album cover was done by Jay Ryan, a very talented designer and print-maker out of the Chicago area.  Good tune, by the way.

Atta boy, Bill.

Part of the problem is that Andrew Bird uses big words that most people don't recognize. I have to confess that he's the ONLY artist I've ever listened to that can work the word "onomotopaea" into a lyric.  Doesn't excuse his eclecticism, but maybe it justifies it a little bit. I love Andrew Bird, because I can't just throw one of his CDs on the player and go about my business with his music as background noise. He seems to demand more from me than that, so I save him for times when I'm adding a chapter to a story or trying like hell to figure out where my life is going.  Love him or hate him - he is not ignoreable. *shrugs*
