Sorrow found me when I was young
Sorrow waited, sorrow won
Sorrow, they put me on the pill
It's in my honey, it's in my milk

Don't leave my hyper heart alone on the water
Cover me in rag and bone sympathy
'Cause I don't want to get over you
I don't want to get over you

Sorrow's my body on the waves
Sorrow's a girl inside my cake
I live in a city sorrow built
It's in my honey, it's in my milk

Don't leave my hyper heart alone on the water
Cover me in rag and bone sympathy
'Cause I don't want to get over you
I don't want to get over you

Don't leave my hyper heart alone on the water
Cover me in rag and bone sympathy
'Cause I don't want to get over you
I don't want to get over you

I'm the opposite, sounds like he's always mumbling to me

This always make me think it was lifted from the "Fragments of a Journal in Hell" album by Carcrash International.
BATHROOM BREAK!
This group could be a little darker...
Listening to the National brings me sorrow.
Quick, to the PSD

Glad they could do it for you.  I want a live review of The National

yes, it's like watching someone going crazy and killing himself slowly. haunting, voyeuristic and beautiful.

Yes, their songs are dark and broody but I do find them authentic and Berninger has a very cool voice. Plus, believe or not, their live shows totally rock! Matt Berninger is like a crazy person on stage.

Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?
The National has added sopranos to their choir, an addition that lifts the weight of this song. Good.

Haven't listened to this in a while. I'd forgotten how beautiful this song, and his voice, is.

Eeyore here ought to team up with that sleep talker Ben Harper.

Sounds like one of those androgynous bands from the 70's and 80's, like Roxy Music or something. In fact I keep waiting for the line "Avalon" to break out.
I don't care what so many others say about The National. I really like them. Yes, of course, if they were only band I listened to, I'd probably kill myself in a week. But they aren't, so I won't. I'm just happy when they slip into the rotation once in a while. Sometimes they fit a mood perfectly.

So, to all the National-haters:

Am I really the only person that is hearing Pink Floyd vocals?

Perhaps, especially since none of their members had a voice as deep as this fellow does.  However, in the comments for just about every song on the RP playlist, someone "hears Pink Floyd", so you're not alone in that aspect.

Nothing dullens a bright day like a National song.

Am I really the only person that is hearing Pink Floyd vocals?

They have some strong tunes but because of their unique sound they always run the risk of lapsing into self-parody.
Want to slit my wrists whenever this band come on... Sorrow indeed!
Looking forward to seeing these guys Friday night in Atlanta at Shaky Knees Festival!

dang that's a lotta the National I been hearing on RP, maybe they're gettin paid by the air-time frequency by them bands I wonder?
Good voice, but why they don't use few more notes, as someone there said already? 5.
I'm going to play this album after xmas dinner, so everyone gets depressed and leaves. don't want the company hanging around too long.

people are free to rate songs however they wish here in Radio Paradise, fortunately...
