Day's turning to night
Pray for the light

Let me come through
Let me take you
Way over the line

Everyone fallin'
Everyone fallin'
Dreamers come crawlin'
Neighbours jump wallin'

Let me come through
Let me take you
Way over the line
Over the line
Over the line
Over the line

And we're away
To be where there's life
Shake the will to comply

Fears don't try me
Tears don't cry me
And we're away
To be where there's life

When we come call out
Everything's sold out
TV just closed down
There's nothin' on the news now

Fears don't try me
Tears don't cry me
And we're away
To be where there's life
Be where there's life
Be where there's life
Be where there's life
Be where there's life

Dig out your soul
'Cause here we go
We gotta move
It's what we do

Let me come through
Let me take you
And we're away
To be where there's life
Be where there's life
Be where there's life

Take you over the light
Under the signs
In through locked doors
To secret floors
Where we've lost 'em before

The Blur Oasis wars continue!!!
More stereophonics, less Oasis please.
I LOVE the ez pz bass line throughout the song. Very catchy. I don't hear any Beatle rip off except harmony. And what decent band doesn't try that? Everyone influences everybody!

I've yet to hear a version of this song I didn't like.
Maybe it's just a great song :)
Not a big Oasis fan, but this one just works!

I mean, there are many worse bands to rip off.
Anyone else annoyed by this harsh hi-hat sound?

Barf.
Probably about 3m55s too long; just at the point the vocals come in. Up to then it could be a George Harrison inspired Beatles' album track
Nice groove in this song. I don't care about the Gallaghers or the Beatles. Just listening to the music.

{#Devil_pimp}zesty groove and yes I would agree this band was definitely influenced by john paul George and ringo rock on chillin 8 days a week !

Sounds a very tiny bit like John Lennon.

Thanks to the Beatles {#Lol}

Nothing about Oasis sounds like the Beatles

Leaving aside Oasis' self-proclaimed comparisons & infatuation and maybe the singers' accents (I can't tell the difference between Manchester & Liverpool, but that's probably just me), you might be able to say that The Beatles might have sounded a bit like Oasis if they had formed in 1991 (and completely pissed away their talent). I always said that the band Reef sounded like The Rolling Stones if they had been up & coming in 1993 (check out "Lately Stomping").

I hear it in the droning sitar sound throughout the song.

Beatles or not, this is a middling track for me, around a 5, whereas BillG's segue to "8 days a week" is a solid 6 from me. So yeah, I hear the Beatles influence on Oasis.
Sounds more like The Wild Birds, It's alright now  Skydog wrote:

What's your point? Oasis have been very open about their admiration for The Beatles and how their sound pays homage to it. Would that other bands that channel the moptops were so open...

Bill just played the mashup of "Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows" right before this. Oasis sounds like a real letdown.

As a general rule the planned sequential arrangement of songs played here is exceptional, but to follow Dove's sublime Firesuite with whatever one wishes to call this seems ill-considered. I quibble with "ill-considered". I suspect it was well-considered, and in Bill's consideration it made sense.

There was a prior reference to Liam and/or Noel Gallagher, addressing them only as "Gallagher", which — unfortunately — made me think of that once ubiquitous prop-comic.  I don't think Oasis smashed much fruit - at least not in public..

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this groovy song...

Seriously, how was this band, in any way except their Northern locale, compared to Blur?
dancing in my chair at work
Oasis tends to be a bit whiny, but this song has serious chops!  Grit from a band that is too polished.  Going to rate it 8.

I have to add my vote to those who see these narcissistic cretins as mainly relying on sampling (creatively if not digitally) from the Beatles.

I remember that, and it has jaded my opinion of this band ever since.

I was a big fan of Oasis, buying Definitely Maybe the day it came out. I saw them at Earl's Court in 1995, the weekend that Wonderwall entered the charts.

Boy, am I glad I stopped buying their records before this appeared on one of them.

I'm with you there.  When my wife heard it (she's a huge Beatles fan) she about flipped.  "How the hell can you be better than the band that you are ripping off?"  I deleted the obscenities to be polite.

Ha! Great transition from the Beatles and guess what? . . . I prefer this.
yeahhhh these guys suck.
Thought this was Kula Shaker for a moment, though I imagine KS has borrowed more from Oasis in the end.

Yes but it sounds 100% Kula Shaker. Except Kula Shaker are a better band.

I think there's a pretty big difference between being a cover band and being influenced by one of the most influential bands ever.

So, would you call Led Zeppelin a 'Blind Willie Johnson cover band?'

As for thinking they were something special, I've never met them, but is there a chance they were simply professional musicians who worked hard at their craft?
