Please put me to sleep
If there's room beneath your feet
See, I left my home
I could not get used to living alone

Put me to rest
Lay your head on my chest
Hold my hand
When you leave
Don't wake me up
Just to see how you say goodbye

Maybe I could be yours
Maybe you could be mine
God, I waited so long
Maybe my time has come
To walk by your side

Please put me at ease
Now my soul is ready for peace
Give me the lover's curse
Now I am ready for you
My rebel, my hope

Maybe I could be yours
Maybe you could be mine
God, I waited so long
Maybe my time has come
To walk by your side

Maybe I could be yours
Maybe you could be mine
Maybe I could be yours
God, I waited so long
To walk by your side
God, I waited so long
To walk by your side

I love the number of female Scandinavian artists on RP. It's where I was introduced to, inter alia, Agnes Obel, Eivør, Sophie Zelmani and First Aid Kit.
You need to be driving an Alfa Romeo through small villages at dawn when you play this.

In black and white.

Amazon is also terrible to authors/musicians

Actual published author checking in. Amazon is great. It was the pre-Amazon publishers that were terrible. As always, the question is (hi Roberta Flack) "compared to what?" Yeah, maybe Amazon isn't a nonprofit charity that only wants to help authors, but it's a lot better (for authors) than what it replaced.
Everything about this is just beautiful.

I'm digging these melancholy lyrics.
There’s also a great duet version with Guillemots‘ Fyfe Dangerfield.
Between radio paradise and WFMU out of jersey I have heard so much fine music and really broadend my tastes

Yes, Sweden practices armed neutrality but remains always pro-western.

What has this music got to do with Amazon? Please dont abuse RPs music forum to vent your spleen about what you dont like about modern life. Thank you.
What a hauntingly beautiful piece of music.
love this line,...

we have a local amazon stock center, i havnt heard any bad reports about it, infact i often hear about lots of freebys and give aways, though I dont know how legal that are.

Better than all the slave drivers of old, and it beats working in a coal mine for tokens you can only spend in the mine owners shop!!!   you dont know how good we have it, and it aint gonna last long, theres a storm a coming, enjoy your song.

Ternheim kind of reminds of the gorgeous Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, who plays a journalist in the outstanding danish TV show BORGEN, about Denmark's first female prime minister and her struggles to stay in power without betraying her convictions and loosing her family. (Highly recommended!)

But Amazon is terrible to their workers. Low pay and benefits, constant harassment to meet very difficult targets, extreme conditions (dangerously hot warehouses). Amazon is also terrible to authors/musicians and publishers (who admittedly have their own problems). Amazon drives local shops out of business. They are essentially an online version of Walmart.

Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll stick with the delectable Anna. For all that they're a good band, The Doves have all the subtlety and finesse of a nail-studded club across the bonce, whereas Anna is subtle, evocative, atmospheric and so typically Scandinavian. It's the devil's own job finding her CDs in proper record shops in the UK, though (screw Amazon).

Isn't she singing to Death? The eerie saw. The line "Now my soul is ready for peace." The slow pace.

Maybe she has, and that's why she's singing such melancholic songs.

Actually, that might make her more melancholy and depressed! {#Tongue-out}

Eerie song, hits that note which in the mind creates yearning.  The trifling over the geography of frigid coasts adds nothing to the discussion. Nor does the cattiness about her complexion. But the Tarantino/Lynch observations did. Any analysis of her voice, musicality, etc.

Another FEMALE singer........
just adding to the crap I read on the previous thread....
I like almost everything played on this station....male/female/soul/jazz/blues/etc
Don't pigeonhole.

Thanks for this reminder.

Oh, geez. So sorry for your loss! *hugs you*  Shows how we never know what another person is going through, or how our off-the-cuff comments might hurt someone. I try to be careful, but sometimes...

Were you close to your grandmother? (Um, and don't use her funeral as a weapon, unless she left explicit instructions to do whatever it takes to gain credibility. And even then, be who you are, do what you do, and stay true.)

I'm still hugging you. Losing a loved one is never easy.

Interesting discovery (for me anyway) !

I turn my head when I hear her voice "Who's this??" I had just fallen in love with "Black Sunday Afternoon" the other day. She is phenomenal. When music from Sweden is good; it's really, really good.
I really liked this!

Such a great transition from Sophie Solomon/Lazarus.  I thought it was the same song, in fact.  I love songs with unexpected transitions that work... but no, the unexpected transition RP's.  There is an art to RP :-)

Might be a nordic thing, but I find the entire album quite uplifting, actually... the more I listen to it, the better my mood gets =)

This is the second song off this CD that I quite like.

I bought her CD and I like it...thanks RP...My version has a guy singing this with her...yours is better.
(Half Way To Five Points)

For some reason, every time I hear it this song reminds me of a James Bond movie. It would be perfect as the 007 signature tune after the opening scene, you know, the psychedelic opening titles with all the naked chicks silhouettes? {#Wink}

Just not doing much for me.

Sort of reminds me of Belly's "Low Red Moon", which I think is a good thing.
She definitely sounds like Suzanne Vega....a Swedish Suzanne Vega, I'm feeling warm and fuzzy just thinking about that concept.... {#Hearteyes} {#Tongue-out} {#Hug}{#Redface}
This echos the feeling of this Monday morning.  Not good.
I like it!

Anna has complemented my music collection quite well...thanks RP

Man.  I stumbled upon the video for this song while looking up the stuff she'd done and... I like the song, but I LOVE the video.  I guess I'm a child of the video era, but I am always happy to find a video that stands on its own as art.  The vid for girl laying down is good too... mostly in the fact that it personifies the way I felt during the chorus (main character, flying).  Check them out.

boring
I was so optimistic on Inauguration Day. Now I'm all depressed again.
I really dig the chord progression in this song.
blahhhh!
she comes across as hauntingly delicious.
She has a rather weak voice but uses it well.
