Come loosen up, so hung up
Come count them ways to forever
Remember the winter gets cold in ways you always forget

Oh, you know... The rhythm and soul
Get your hands out your back pockets, boy let it go

Here comes the man you saw in Kazan,
He just picks in his coat... Oh no
The rhythm and soul.

Dollars and cents and no accident
Not in the name of democracy.
Come get there, come be there
Come let your socks fall down to your shoes

Oh, you know... The rhythm and soul
Get your ankles moving their sockets
Oh there you go

And here comes the man
He bought a gift from Kazan
He can't leave it alone... Oh no
The rhythm and soul

When you take a picture and it falls in the lot... Oh no, no
Take another picture and you spring in the trap... Oh no, no
You miss home

You can't back this at your ride
Change of tide
And you're wise, you're wise
Rhythm and...

Tracked houses, square couches,
Short legs and square shoulders,
Pot holders, aching soldiers,
Your tank rollers, your all-overs

And you know, oh the rhythm and soul
Get your fingers moving their sockets
Tune in Tokyo

You're just the man
The one I saw in Kazan
Wonder what this book will throw... Oh no
The rhythm and...

Any Spoon song gets at least an 8 from me!  Great band, loved them for a long time.  And all their songs sound extra crisp on the RP stream! {#Bananajam}{#Guitarist}{#Drummer}{#Bananapiano}
Fork this....{#Wink}

Another prime example of what makes RP kick extra Ass - the two comments below this one, in reply to ChrisVIII, all non-Americans and LOVING on BillG's internet radio station "broadcasting" about 700 miles away from me.  And that's so cool; really, it's exactly what's GOOD about the internet....making us (the PEOPLE) have an easier chance communicating together in this GLOBAL world we share.

Long Live RP!!  And I've got this Spoon song rated an 8 currently and to hell with it → 9 PEACE

It's a pity though that after so many years listening to RP I still cannot name or remember more than 10% of all the artists I discovered :(

i used to listen to RP because I could focus on my work without humming since i didn't know the songs but know this technic doesn't work any more, I keep listening to it at work because somehow the playlist matches my mood (or is the playlist setting my mood ?). In any case, I love it :){#Clap}{#Hearteyes}

totall agree with the part "feel the need to rate and paf, already dit it"....
but disagree with the "cannot name or remember" ....

i can remember a big part of all nice gems RP made me discover.
When i started to listen RP, i had a text file to list all songs i was happy to discover, and it was at least 3 or 4 times a day i had to stop working to add another line on my RP list.

thanks Bill

I know how you feel.  After a couple of years I am still only able to identify 1 in 10 or even less.  Sometimes I get a good run and can identify most of the bands on the playlist for a while then Bill throws a curved ball and I have to get up and look over at the PC streaming the music and find out who it is.  I then say to myself "I must remember this one" but I seldom do. My memory is not as good as it once was and so I do everything I can to exercise it and that is why, apart from the actual music, I listen to RP.
last few have kept me at the desk-Thanks for wrapping up my day Bill.

The man then notices that all the men have strings attached to them under their aprons. The man asks, " Why do you all have strings attached to you? The waiter says, " Well, they are attached to our penises, so that we dont have to touch them when we go to the bathroom, to avoid washing our hands, thus saving time. The men then gets curious and asks, " well... how do u get it back in then?" The waiter says, " I'm not really sure how the other guys are doin it, but i've been using the spoon."

I remember reading they got their name from the song "Spoon" by the Krautrock band, CAN.
Thanks for all the recommendations - I ended up buying them all - I'm definitely in a Spoon phase!  Not sure how I missed them earlier in my listening "career?"  I think my favorite overall is Gimme Fiction.
I can't stand this band. I don't know why. I just do. Something about that guy's voice is just grating. Every time I hear a Spoon song come on, I just go "Ugh."

Highly recommend: Kill The Moonlight, Gimme Fiction, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Have them all and these are my fave.

GORGEOUS!!

wow. 8 and a half. On second listen may be a TEN. classic and fresh. rawk on RP it's a public service you do <3
Even reading the lyrics, I have NO IDEA what this song is about, but I LIKE IT!
A great rock and roll voice!
Saw these guys on Austin City Limits recently. They groove just as well live (or better!) as in the studio.
Amazing set all day — really appreciated.  Spoon, Calexico, Johnny Cash - can't go wrong.

Like enormously.

Yet another killer hook from the Pride of Austin. One of the Prides, anyway.
Dislike greatly.
there are other spoon's musics. like metal detektor..

Mmmm, guess a Spoon is the appropriate tool with which to eat Cake
If you love this song as much as I do, you'll really love the live version from this concert on NPR.

Just wanted to mention that Spoon forgoes the "y" themselves: the correct title is "Rhthm & Soul"

Very good album from an artist I first got into through RP.  Thanks, Bill!
that'll be a wooden spoon then
addictive song

Spoon is one of those bands that really grows on you (me). I have to admit that their sound didn't grab me right away, but after a few listens, I got hooked. Clever song-writing too.
As good a disc as there was last year.
GOD I love these guys! Can't wait to see them next weekend! :jump:
decent CD but the songs sounds ALOT alike. sounds good the first few times through then blah

"It gets cold in ways that you forget..." As a Pennsylvanian who has lived in Florida for 20 years, I can only imagine!
Great band, great album. I keep 6 CDs in my car changer for when I forget to bring along my ipod. This CD hasn't left the changer since I bought it. It truly is one of the best albums this year. I'm fickle, and I'm not sick of it yet.
