She's had a hard life and survived. I like that. And damaged or not....I like her voice too!

I like. Thoughtful but hopeful. And I like the album title and the cover art, it's certainly more evocative and more accessible than some of the other graphically or thematically challenged images that the artists or others decide makes for a good presentation of the music or the brand. Anyway, I'll give the song a 6 to start and a 7 for the cover art.

Nothing personal against Marianne Faithful, I grew up with her in the 60's in London, but I hate this song, the song is terrible, I have to say she can't sing either-please don't play this song anymore

The violin part was done by Warren Ellis of Nick Cave's group The Bad Seeds and seeing as how the song was produced by Nick, it's a sure bet that the "bad" playing was intentional to underscore the intense emotionality of the song. Sometimes Bad is Good...

Avarage is (still) only 5.4, where I read only possitive comments (that I deerly agree with). I put an 8, but that might grow. Wonderfull.

I remember that Mick had something to do with her tumble. As I recall, she was something of a virginal figure up till the time she became Mick's girlfriend for a spell. She's certainly had ups and downs.

She's one of my favorites and has been since the sixties. 8) Faithfull's album "Broken English" is fabulous. Contains "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" with keyboards by Steve Winwood and used in the film "Montenegro". The album also contains "Why'd You Do It" one of the most direct communications on the pain of infidelity I have ever heard. Not for the faint hearted.

I was listening to this and thought "no, it can't be, she can't still be making records" Lo and Behold it IS her! I've always had a soft spot for Marianne, rather like a female Leonard Cohen. Excellent in small doses.

I thought this voice sounded familiar. With a little digging I found this is indeed the same woman who sings on the Metallica song "The Memory Remains." She sounds better here than on the Metallica song.

Listening to this song, I looked up in interest. After really listening to it, I decided that this must be the work of someone who REALLY wants to be a musician, but will never make it out of birthdays and weddings. Oh well.
