does anybody know the name of the woman that sings background vocals on the LZ version of this song? i always wanted to find out if she did any other stuff because IMO she is amazing.
Sandy Denny

That would have to be Sandy Denny.

Hmmm...I'm a Zep fan and I love this song. I also love bluegrass...but I'm just not sure this cover was necessary. After all, the original has some very fine mandolin work in it anyway.
I have to agree. For a cover to be interesting, it ought to introduce something new, e.g., a new interpretation of the song, or else be an exacting replica, in which case really it is a study.

true dat
I'm a huge LZ fan, but does this version remind anyone of the Deadwood theme in places?

You majored in music, right?
no, just a fan... edit: i looked up your rating of this song and decided that your comment was probably not a compliment, but instead an accusation of being overly critical. well, OK. I guess I didn't like it as much as you did.

Homage a Led Zep ? Cool ....

Calling this blasphemy would imply that "Battle of Evermore" is sacred....
Its sacredness is axiomatic.

And your point is?

not bad - but in my opinion the representation of the lyrics is a little to sterile/mathematical. i think that soulfulness often comes out a little off-beat & doesn't lend itself well to a metrinome approach (think hendrix - wind cries mary, or anything by gil evans). I think this is where pickin on fails (this is also very much the case with their cover of OK Computer) it's just too clean & straight-laced.
I agree, sounds great, but its too perfect. It lacks the soul... rate a 7

It's cool, but that high violin repeats WAY too much...
Come on Mike....I got all excited to hear the real thing (like several times this past week) and it always turns out to be fiddle players lately :( hahaha.. I still love the program

I'll admit this one made my jaw drop when I realized what band and song was being covered......but it's really well done. The instruments absolutely cover the range and tone of the voices used in the original piece.
This is top-notch musicianship. I have the Allman Brothers one and have heard the Pink Floyd one. Butch Baldesari is incredible.
I imagine that doing a version of this LZ song must not be that easy - aren't the guitar's strings off-key for the song? Love the No Quarter with the voices, though.
Zep meets Blue Grass...can't say I  really like it.
These are fun - the pickin on zz top is great too!
