I had this on tape back then. My walkman ran it every day . Good mood sound and ever since I love the Charlatans. Have every single album and even some EPs. Seen 'em live twice. Good performance and nice tunes.

Sorry, but there is just NO DENYING that that guitar, and that Hammond Mastery, is, like, JAM OF THE CENTURY!  I loved this mind-blower when it came out, and love it still... The vocals, the bass, the drumming, too -- just...frickin' INEFFABLE, man... Yeah, Deep Purple runs through EVERY teenage rocker's veins, but THIS -- and when you consider the vast oevre of this amazing band -- is really, in my opinion, anyway, of a broader, more symphonic kind of artistry.
Hate to be a nit-picker, but THAT is not the cover of Some Friendly...

Loved this on their first big exposure record in the US, "Some Friendly," back in 1991 or so...still sounds really good, too!
I must say, their new record Who We Touch is a nice surprise -- some tracks on it are as cool and catchy as ever, check it out!

it's great for RP that "listens" what listeners suggest...
Hush from Deep Purple is sure a great choice after this song!!!

Good song connections based either on sound or anything else (lyrics, song title, occasion etc) always add value to the producer's job. Well done RP.

Bands like this are cool.  Intermixing riffs from one song/band and another and their own is the kind of music that makes me smile wide.

That's one of the reasons I enjoyed Tesla so much, at least live.  They just ran so many into each other and made them work very well.

You could get Sam Smiths in Oregon?!? Wow - that's some way from Tadcaster in deepest, darkest Yorkshire. You were lucky - Sam's is increasingly hard to get hold of over here now that the sodding supermarkets have almost monopolised booze sales, putting 'off licences' and local stores out of business. There is one store near me that sells it, and as you've mentioned it I'm going to drop by and buy a couple of bottles for tonight, and raise a pint glass to you and to Oregon :*)

Saw these cats at the Vic in Chicago last Wednesday may 24th. Just as I remember from a show I caught some 15 years ago, they are a tight live act who sound almost as good on stage as they do in the studio. Tim Burgess' singing voice in particular is exactly the same on stage as in the studio. I also managed to score a backstage pass and got to hang with the lads for a while. Very cool, humble and mellow folks whose Mancunian accents were so thick they might as well have been speaking Middle Saxon for all I could tell. An excellent time all around and I plan to see them again the next time they're in Chicago.

Yay, Bill! Been awhile since I heard this old gem... When it broke I thought it was the next best thing to Pink Floyd -- loved the organ (too bad Rob died too young)... I can still picture rolling down Loveland Pass to work at A-Basin HA! and work included taking turns in the steep and deep...'Twas living a vacation...and this made it even moreso. I know they're still around, but -- long live the Charlatans "old" sound! This song will always kick some major butt, with that signature keyboard action and voice...
