I'm your's forever
Won't leave you ever

If this were a Vanilla Fudge song, it would be three times as long.

It's a secret
And of course there's Vanilla Fudge.
This is one of the groups that reminds me of how fortunate I was to come up when I did.  Remember hearing this record played by my friends "cool" older brother in the summer between 8th and 9th grade.
And next  up on flashback whatever day we have the Electric Prunes!  Yes that is a real band name, check it out nonbelievers.
Oh wow, I never knew the Michael Stipe-led song on the Golden Palominos album was a cover of this song.  Mind-blown!
For only 81 ratings, there is quite a bell curve on the ratings chart.
Why did they pick that name for the band?

Here is how it might have happened... originally they wanted Moby Dick (the name of the whale in Herman Melville's book of the same name) but the record company said..."You can't have the word Dick in your name" so the band looked at each other with blank faces and when no drug inspired ideas emerged they let a dictionary fall open on the floor and the first word on the page it opened on was "Grape" -  so Moby Grape it was!

Could there be any other rational reason?
Since you played 6:08 a while ago, and I didn't get it, I started researching Moby Grape a bit....   I read all the Wikipedia articles, and found that Omaha is one of Rolling Stone's top songs ever, near 100 out of 500.  So I hit YouTube, and was really very underwhelmed.... until I found this:

In 2010, they were playing in Austin, and someone recorded this cut of their live performance:  NOW I get it.... they ROCK!!   Check out the guitar riff starting especially at 2:00 in... one of the best ever:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNqPwL2jbhU   BillG, I'd like to hear your version, and hope your cut is half as good as this.    I've now listened to it about 5 times in a row....
Holy cow, i haven't heard this in over 30 years!! What a great suprise.
I didn't catch how this song is about Omaha, but I'm from there!

I'm afraid that won't happen, Kurt. I've uploaded it, but it was rejected.
What do you mean rejected? Shall I try to do it tonight?
Great to hear Moby Grape on the radio. One of the best groups ever!!!
Bill, please don't talk over the music. One hears that on the radio and it is horrifying, IMO. Thanks!

A fine day to be in Omaha today...
The Golden Palominos cover of this (featuring Michael Stipe) would be cool to hear too.

What a flashback. I still drive the 66 Mustang I originally heard this song in.
