It's not an accident
You mean to touch me
And that's exactly why I'm here
A trick of confidence
Twenty years inside
You're exactly what I need

But I bide
Don't have time to play
So put your toys away

Don't take it easy
Why should we take easy yeah
Should we take it easy

I break into the park
With the insects
Striking up the costume ball
The light is lovely here
In the neon glow
I could never want for more

But I bide
Don't have time to play
So put your toys away

Don't take it easy
Why should we take easy yeah
Should we take it easy
Why should we take easy yeah
Should we take it easy
Why should we take easy yeah
Easy yeah

I like this. SEXY! I recall hearing it before, unable to check to see, and thinking it might have been Morcheeba. She's really got quite a purr!

It is most definitely sexy and so are you... you said purrrrrr...
Very nice
Her terrific debut... This is going to be a classic album...
 yes it is...I really enjoy the outro instrumental  slider23 wrote:

From the first glance at the cover photo, I thought it was my girlfriend, Tina Arena.
Wow Emiliana tu sei bella! {#Cheers}

Agreed. Had to check out the artist bio to make sure. Very nice though.
yeah this is nice.. {#Smile}
Really like the bass line. Smooth.....
This is a great album...if you have the opportunity, listen to "Wednesday's Child".
Nice snare drum.

She's certainly singing this song in a 'come hither' voice. 8 from the smitten Nottingham jury {#Hearteyes}
soooo easy ya......

Maybe it was because I was just listening to Serge Gainsbourg but holy crap, this is sexxxxual.  Me likes.
Set , not bad!
Anyone else experiencing re buffering issues on all streams from  RP today? {#Stupid}
Almost there - like a song Morcheeba left on the cutting room floor. Pleasant enough to listen to, though.
Lovely vocals
8 rate/ for the voice :)

Yea, I dig, gave it a 7.{#Sunny}

I think Gollum's Song is fabulous.  Amazing power in her voice.
Loooooove her! Her voice is soooo sexy!!!!
Love this {#Meditate}
Not bad. Yes, very Bjork like in the vocal sound, but not necessarily style. How many artists didn't vocally sound like other artists (eg Bowie!) Popular artists that sound a little different in their time (Bjork, Bowie) open the door for other artists that wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. Having said that, I still haven't cast my vote for how much I like the tune. I'm undecided at this point.
It was all good until the chorus. . . Then dropped from a 9 to a 7.
Bjork doing naughty-cheeky-naughties. (I love Bjork).
Sucko-Barfo just sums it up for me. This sounds like manufactured pop music w/ an "alternative" flair to me. As for the breathy voice - I think the style is girlish,& does not display particular vocal talent.

I have heard vocalists that sound much more like bjork than this ..
This album is fantastic. Loverly stuff.
Thievery Corporation, of course! I couldn't figure out where I'd heard that voice before. Bjorkish, but better enunciated as mentioned. I like the breathy delivery, it sounds hot. Great name, too. c.

Nice to hear something else from her other than "Gollum's Song". Yay RP!
Thought this was Regina Spektor at first! -lmic EDIT: I love Regina. An 8 for Emiliana!
From The New Pornographers to a song from an album entitled Love in the Time of Science... That's RP for you!
sounds james bondy...
YAY! thank you for playing her. maybe more Sunnyroad or Heartstopper? Have anything from "love in the time of science"?
She has a very pretty voice.
I have a hard time forgiving her of that rotten song on "Two Towers" soundtrack.

Nah...hear more Bjork. IM's Karen Peris has a much less garbled voice (IMO). Maybe some of the softer tunes from Glow or earlier albums are similar, but it's still more Bjorkish to me.
"Bjorkish"? I think I like that word. Have to work it into a conversation or a meeting sometime today...
It seems like I've heard a more uptempo version of this song...which helped it sound better. I like it, but I enjoyed my imagined version of it better. ;) Hmmmm...I guess it could just be me. I'll have to check into that.

I TOTALLY forgot about Olive when my computer crashed and I lost my music collection. Damn, that was good stuff. Emiliana's cover songs are AMAZING. Not that I'm one to advocate covers.
This song has some SWEET bass work.

Soo good. Great CD as well. I think Emiliana actually sings on some Morcheeba tunes. I think she's a good bit more palatable than Bjork.
Nope, just Thievery Corporation. (Said Mr. Know-It-All.)
The last time I heard this, I thought it was just ho-hum. Now it's gotten downright annoying. What a cloyingly sweet, artificial voice.

From the same CD: Emiliana Torrini - To Be Free sorry 7/0 oh, to see a grown man sob :headache.gif:
As I was saying... ET, be go-o-o-od! A 9.
I think she has a great voice. No complaints from me!
I would even say this has a bit of Edie (Ghost of a Dog) Brickell going on in it... What I am is what I am is what a yam is what a yam

oh! so this is the girl that sang that HORRID song on LOTR. yuck! It sounded like she was dying. But this song is fairly good. but...not too often is right.

First, Bjork actually recommended Emiliana for the track "Golem's Song" in what I believe was the second LOTR movie as she was pregnant and couldn't do it herself. Second, this is a pretty good album, with Roland Orzabal producing and writing some of the tracks. One of the better albums I've picked up in the last year or so.
Nice catch! She did a fine job on LOTR. I thought she was an opera diva...
You should hear Emiliana's rendition of Sounds of Silence. Incredible.
Elements of Bjork, Portishead and Morcheeba throughout. But the first time I heard 'Easy' I thought it was Cerys Matthews (former lead singer with Catatonia). Her latest, 'Cockahoop', would suite the RP playlist admirably!
I got a $50 gift cert to Second Spin today. It was toss up between her and Norah Jones for the remaining $, and I chose Norah. Hope I did the right thing. I bought all discs from songs that I had first heard on RP, so thanks, Bill!
Bjork or no, I like this a bunch.

Cool song. Her voice is a dead ringer for the lead singer of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, don't you think?
No... much more Edie Brickell than Bjork or Katherine Whalen of the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Very nice arrangements just the same.

GREAT VOICE, I DONT HEAR BJORK AT ALL IN THIS MUSIC. THIS GIRL CAN ACTUALLY CARRY A TUNE. KEEP IT UP.
As noted below, the similarities between this lovely voice and Bjork's are striking. The song is certainly worth hearing, but not ... too ... often.
Bjork Schmork. Emiliana has a great sense of melody, song flow, great voice. Been enjoying her CD quite a lot. Nicely put together. She has a few videos online at some German site too. Pretty creative.
wow, i can't believe you are playing this. this is a GREAT album. GOOD GOOD GOOD.
Interesting Earth, Wind & Fire meets Stairway to Heaven sound there...
Definitely need more Emiliana!
Bjork clone. One was more than enough. :-&
Sounds like a "poppy" Bjork.. sans natural noise loops offered effectively as alternative methods of conveying the pulse.. To appreciate this artist on a "let me warp everything selfishly to allow passage into my tightly woven filter of what music is supposed to be" kinda way... I'll have to give her a new name... "Pork".. thank you gnite...
This girl absolutely kills me. I'm completely incapable of forming any opinion of her other than, "Yum!"

I don't think she's trying to be Bjork at all. Their accents are similar because they are both Icelandic. Her style is very different. I think she's one of the best young singers I've heard since Bjork was a pup though! Kudos to RP for playing Torrini.

It's actually the lovechild of Björk and the Portishead singer.
I love Gollums Song. It\'s great to hear more from her.

She has surprisingly Bjork-esque voice...very nice. Will definitely be looking out for more of her work.
Reminds me of Morcheeba. Is it the same lead singer? Also, bladerunner: STOP YELLING.
NICE SONG FROM AN UP AND COMING ARTIST...PLEASE PLAY MORE THANKS
