standing in the alpha beta parking lot
watching the sun set
I'll never forget
watching all the reds and oranges slip away
letting go of yet another dirty day

breathing in the fumes from so many idling cars
right beneath the sign w/ the dusty yellow stars
watching the sun go down

standing in the alpha beta parking lot
watching you leave me
not quite believing

standing in the alpha beta parking lot
watching the sun set
I'll never forget
breathing in the fumes from so many idling cars
right beneath the sign w/ the dusty yellow stars
watching the sun go down

THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST SONGS OF CAKE

"Standing in Alpha-Beta Alley holding my pud in my hands
watching my girlfriend go down
blowing beets into the sand........."

<sung to out of tune guitar with BFF beating paint can with stick and drunken boy singing as flat as possible>

OK, I know I'm an old guy with too much 60's and 70's tunes rolling around inside my skull but the point of this song again is ............?

You know you're a dork when you start distinguishing "old school" vs "new school" Cake. And, well, that's me. For the record old school cake is awesome.
would someone actually spend the $0.99 on itunes and listen to this on purpose?
THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST SONGS OF CAKE
Please explore more new bands rather than explore lesser tunes from other bands.

You know you've run out of ideas for lyrics when you start writing about slacking in supermarket parking lots. With all the great stuff out there that doesn't get played here why, oh why, are we subjected to this no-talent crap?
With ya' . . . completely. I come here daily for new, cool, 'ah-ha' moments. This was not one of them.

Wizz, we gotta talk about this drinking habit. Every time I login to RP you're hitting the sauce again. Wizzuvv_oz wrote:
Like the Alph Beta thing but not that much. Not their best. Seems to be Cake at their most annoying and "I love these guys". I'm serious man. I love these guys!! and this is annoying!!

I'm with you. I'm a big cake fan, but this is one of their few songs I can't stand.

More CAKE. Please, play some more.
This song made it into our campfire songbook--the kids insisted after the first listen. Since an inauspicious begining this band has gotten stronger and stronger--keep it coming!
ahh... alpha-beta. the first grocery store i remember going to when i was a very little tike. i think my mom decided that i was the last child after my shenanigans. i was early birth control.
I don\'t think so
TG, I uploaded it from my Prolonging The Magic CD -- didn't realize there were different versions (?)
What CD version is this? Mine starts out differently. I like it anyway. I could listen to CAKE all day.
Not even ice cream is better than Cake.
I appreciate Cake more and more with every song I hear. This song is no exception. :)
