I Agree!  Thanx RP!
I like this - the piano is particularly good.

What a delightful song!

. . . all evidence to the contrary.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Thank you RP.

Wouldn't you like to hear a duet?

I guess you never saw a Grateful Dead Show live; If you had, you would understand Drum Solos...and duets!
The drummer sure gets a workout on this song! Love it! Extra points just for that.

More banjo w/salsa!
Yes, the banjo is good, but whoever is tearing up the keyboards is most impressive as well.

I don't care for banjo. ...up until now, the only exception was Bela Fleck! ...now I have 2 exceptions! ...Allison Brown is great!

Advice I once received from a banjo player on how to level a music festival stage: Place banjo player center stage, adjust jacks until he drools from both sides of his mouth.

Would that be kosher?
Markets are down but my spirits are up. Thanks to this tune. A solid 9!

Always nice to find a bit of shade in this summer heat! ;)

Just too acidic.

Wow. um, what else? Hm. Nope. Just Wow.

You're right, because the Weather Channel would be insulted.
I'm going to say something that's true, and probably insulting even though I don't mean it to be so -- this sounds very much like something I might hear on the Weather Channel. (I like it, though!)
Nice to hear eclectic Banjo from other than Bela Fleck!
appreciating this morning's diversity

This is a musical slingshot of two different cultures. Great journey from one to the other and then there is the blend of both, very nice.. I danced Salsa in the kitchen to it. More than fun.

Thought it was Fleck, nice surprise! Going to check this album out further!

interesting. for what it's worth my ex chased me around the basement with a claw hammer a long time ago.she too thought it was a good instrument for the job.   (escaped with only minor injuries and a new perspective on inviting her sister over when she was away) (bela fleck didn't figure in to the equation)

Lucky your perspective wasn't looking up from a hosptal bed!

Now Phil .. next time invite both sisters at the same time.  Play The Scissor Sisters "Take Your Momma Out Tonight" and drink cheap wine.

Tasty!  I played claw hammer banjo a long time ago, and always thought it could be a good jazz instrument.  Bela Fleck didn't do it for me.

You know, I am glad that you mentioned Bela Fleck. I recently saw him in th Netherlands, and he was trying out something new, musically. It was absolutly awful!!!

I like this, though... Lovely use of banjo.

actually...

in collaboration with Béla Fleck she won the 2000 Grammy for Best Country Instrumental Performance
What's not to like?
And how about Steve Martin?  I've been seeing several live show of his lately, and Utube has videos of him with Earl Scruggs on Letterman's show. You can see what I mean and play cuts from his new album "The Crow"  on www.npr.org also.

There seems to be enough RP interest and enjoyment of many styles of bluegrass, so, other than his pesonal quirky songs, he plays a mean banjo on many styles —  a really good player!

Anyone else listenen without prejudice to all good music?

Bill must be in a dancing mood today. ^_^
Cool!!  8/10

Bela Fleck is the only concert I've walked out on, about halfway through, bored out of my mind and I had wanted to go.

Awesome
wow that piano sounds like joe sample big time
Excellent CD....
So how cool is this? Neat song!
just can't get into this kind of stuff. It's toe -tapping background---that's about it. Although the use of banjo is interesting!
I hear shades of the Sex and the City intro in this...
¡Sabrossura!
Very nice groove on a Sunday morn. Thanks!
very good
yeeeeahhh, dancing the office away.... *stepstepstep*
I'm loving this.
A banjo can't fix an uninteresting song..... 2
Looooove it!
Nice combination of genres- 5-string Banjo and a latinesque combo. Not since the Tango scare of the 1920s has banjo and south-of-the-border sounds met in a wonderous way. For other cross-overs- check out Eileen Ivers mixing Celtic fiddle with African and Latin grooves...

Absolutely
Maybe Bela Fleck does have some peers... Can she play classical music on the banjo too?

I want to hear more about String Theory.
Nice surprise! Alison Brown is great. Never expected to hear her on RP, but glad.

Love that banjo! Am I the only who appreciates good banjo work?
As a banjo player who's good enough for comedy purposes, I greatly appreciate banjo players who are better than good enough for comedy purposes. Which this is. Better than.
Fantastic! A 10! First time I hear of Alison Brown and if the rest of her material is anything like this amazing instrumental piece, I'm an instant fan! I see I am going to start widening my musical tastes from blues and rock and roll into jazz now with the excellent jazz selections I have heard here! (buying new CDs through RP, of course -- don't worry Bill!) Gotta love RP for helping open minded listeners discover new music!

Yet another of the countless reasons why we love RP...something fresh that I've never heard before, but sounds familiar at the same time. Thank you!
When I first heard this piece, I thought -- hey, new Bela Fleck... But no! This is someone new -- probably influenced by BF. The banjo/piano interaction is very nice, very fresh-sounding. I rather like Wooton's synth-axe drummitar, BTW.

YAY! Someone OTHER than bela fleck playing jazz Banjo! I love Bela, but it's wonderful to see other masters in the form. Go go gadget Alison Brown! This also has a far better mix of musicians IMHO. Outstanding piano and drum work. :D/
Yeah, no offense, Futureman, but this percussion is WAY better than hearing the synth-axe drumitar in the background...
Heard a great interview w/ Alison Brown on the Bob Edwards Show (XM 133) the other day...
Banjo+Mambo: Banjmambo, played in the same style as Jean Luc Ponty and his electric violin. wow
This Cd is cool -- she's got a new one that's great too. Can't remember the name of it...

This goes well beyond background music. Irresistable. Yum.
Who knew this was possible on the banjo? I dig it.
Disturbingly hipnotic. Gotta say I like it.
KICKIN!!! Turn it UP!
Alison Brown is the banjo goddess - since Bela is the banjo god... If I can onlu learn to play half as well.... :)
This is so cool!
