Interesting... I've never heard this song before, but I've definitely heard that line before and it definitely stuck with me. Peter Gabriel wrote Willow Farm in 1972:

Mark Everett is the driving force behind Eels. His dad was a brilliant but emotionally inaccessible physicist who likely had something like Asperger's. I saw a documentary about father and son which gave the impression that Mark is still working out a lot of issues from childhood. He's also gone through a lot as an adult.
