Well I'm lyin' in my bed, a tangle of arms and legs,
But the one that I'm with is not the one bouncing 'round my head.
I could turn this into song or cheap fantasy,
But whatever I've ignited will still burn in me.

Bread and wine, bread and wine, your heart ain't nearly as guilty as mine.

I'm a dark heavy heart. I'm a soul full of holes.
I'm a boat that is sinking, muddy waters threatening this baggage in my hold.
And there's a line in my head from an old gospel song,
But no matter how hard I try, the words they just come out wrong.

Bread and wine, bread and wine your thoughts aint nearly as wicked as mine.
Bread and wine, bread and wine your cross aint nearly as heavy as mine.

I've been graced by the gift of a gold wedding band.
I've been soothed by the simple caress of my true love's hand.
And yet I'm lyin' in my bed, a tangle of arms and legs,
And the one that I'm with is not the one that I'm dreaming of.

Bread and wine, bread and wine, won't you please be my bread and wine.
Bread and wine, bread and wine, won't you please be my bread and wine.

Sweet, slurred-down delight! Much like the music of Morphine, hearing Cowboy Junkies makes me feel down but somehow wonderfully intoxicated on it; dig...
First chords sound the same as part of Frampton's Do You Feel Like We Do ?

Malaise at it's finest.
Great tune.

Would like to hear Pat Benatar cover some of their tunes.  Adding a dash of more intense!
Just the right mix of her vocals, slightly distorted guitar chords, and keyboards.

you're both correct
Can we get the papers signed and declare the Cowboy Junkies Do Not Resucitate? Please?

Hearing this in rotation quite a bit lately. But I have no issue with it as I like it more and more.

Her voice never gets old on me.

youtube MERRY CHRISTMAS from Charlie the venus flytrap!!!

Get where? Time to sleep...
This shows they can really get there if they want to.  Good stuff.  I do think Margo needs a little more pinching.
Sometimes methinks this band is sorely underrated. Dunno why. They do sublime, and they do rock.
Everybody in my hotel room, my church, my homeless camp, and my alien space craft loves this song...
smoky sultry seductive.. {#Yes}
Ahhh...Margo in the morning

First time heard here, especially at the right volume...not bad!
THIS is Cowboy Junkies?  It's got movement and motion .... which is a nice change .... and that wickedly seductive voice.
Slinky bass line really makes this song

marvelous...  we be dancing like bowlegged gypsy muleskinners...

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this song, and this marvelous album...

Awesome bass playing and beautiful singing!
Love it.

And one that I happen to think is brilliant!
Liking this band so much
Following the Cowboy junkies with Morphine is fitting their tempo pretty well.

This song sounds very different than most of their other material to me; it's nowhere near as catatonic as most stuff I've heard from them.

 Why isn't this band HUGE?

'cause most of their songs are snoozeworthy.  This is a particularly good one.  I do like a lot of their stuff, but it's easy for me to see why their appeal is, in the words of Spinal Tap's manager Ian, "more selective".

 Why isn't this band HUGE?
And now for something COMPLETELY different:

Cowboy Junkies - Bread And Wine
Louis Armstrong - Skokiaan (South African Song

should be called "Bread and Whine"

Unlike you, who I must assume has a 8-octave range, Margo knows the limitations of her voice and works within that range. If you don't like it don't listen. Duh.
She just can't get out of that soft easy chair.

The vocals do not match the rest of the set . . . give me Allison Krause as a replacement on this tune.  I understand distinction for CJ, but she could do the same sultry bit but with more oomph

Give the vocal lead to someone that can match the intensity of the rest of the music -
Where is the button that says "bring to front"?

Great song, great album — love the Junkies.

Rhetorical, right? {#Ask}
I heard she wrote this for a relative's First Communion.
Mmmmm I also wanna be a cowboy junkie. Instead I'm just a junkie {#Ask}

You have GOT to be kidding. They are known to really cut loose live.

Of course they also have their quiet parts.

That's what I like about them.

Generally speaking, I like CJ, although the show I saw in Chicago 8 years ago was pretty dull.
Margo's husband is the president of the Canadian version of the RIAA.  Neat.
Unfortunately you are right—-I used to lover Cowboy Junkies when I first started listening to them but soon realized that most of their sound is repetitive, also when I sw them in concert wasn't that impressed—but really I do enjoy them.

That's sooo canajun, eh?  (Les anglos, anyway, mais le rock & roll en francais c'est autre chose!)  {#Wink}

Why does every Cowboy Junkies song sound like every other Cowboy Junkies song?
I always liked CJ.
I really want to like this band, they covered Neil Young after all, but I just can't do it.
Interesting cover art/album title.

Just once in your life, Margo, let out a SCREAM--even a little one. I wonder whether her orgasms are as soporific.
Margo is one wild woman who likes sex in parks, elevators, and during boring public seminars. She has learned like other brave women to have her cake and be quiet about it too. Funny how the Junkies polarize. If you like and appreciate crazy Lou Reed, I don't know how you can't simply not dig this. Of course, if you are not familiar with Lou Reed...... Feeling old 'n creaky here.... west slope

If this song were a hotel, I'd have to call the front desk for a wake up call. Zzzzz....
Unsubscribe.

Decent tune from a very good band.
Lou Reed with a fuller, lusher sound and better studio production values.
This is the delicate mix of guitar and vocals that I so like about the Cowboy Junkies.

In concert Mike really gets into this song on guitar. I agree that "Open" was not what I look for from CJs. My two favs remain "Trinity Session" and "Black Eyed Man".
