Baby, you've been going so crazy
Lately, nothing seems to be going right
Solo, why do you have to get so low?
You're so
You've been waiting in the sun too long

But if you sing, sing
Sing
Sing, sing, sing
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Unless you sing
Sing, sing, sing

Colder, crying over your shoulder
Hold her, and tell her everything's gonna be fine
Surely, you've been going too early
Hurry, 'cause no-one's gonna be stopped, na na na na na

But if you sing
Sing
Sing, sing, sing
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Unless you sing
Sing, sing, sing, sing, sing

Baby, there's something going on today
But I say
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing

So na na na na
If you sing
Sing
Sing, sing, sing
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Unless you sing
Sing, sing, sing, sing
Oh baby sing
Sing
Sing
Sing, sing, sing
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Unless you sing
Sing, sing, sing

Glenn Campbell did a fantastic cover of this not too long before his passing.
Takes me back to the of  summer  of 1999 in Newquay, Cornwall watching these guys playing next to the beach feelin free and happy among friends
i remember when this came out. i immediately loved this song. still do.
@William: The link "Artist Website" doesn't quite fit - it should rather be this one here
"Sing Sing"... it's about time someone wrote a song about that prison.

Harsh. Don't bag the artist that wrote or performed the song. Just accept your lived experience doesn't align with the artist's and let those whose experience allows them to appreciate it enjoy it.
You know, lots of ranting in the comments about U2, Coldplay, and whether Travis is a good band or not. All of it completely irrelevant because on its own merits, this is a simply a great song.

Why? Surely you like a band or you don't.

Whatever dude
Wow... Just read the comments, these guys are Marmite - love em or hate em it seems.

Just gone '9' cos it lifted me at the end of a long day of CAD and meetings!!

The full album was pretty deceiving but this song still great and make me sing each time i hear it.
Travis is a great band… really reliably fun

As would many of us out here, friend....

One of the first songs I learned to play on bass :-)
Easy 9 for the memories, would give a fortune to relive a day from those times.
Tripe.  I'll listen to Glen Campbell instead, thanks.

Fran Healy's voice is amazing.

You got it LK. Banjo is good on any song!
Yes, this is indeed a very beautiful song.    Gotta love the ecumenical lyrics.

Huh!  For the first time I am noticing the bass line.   Sweet.

Such a happy song!
I like the Glenn Campbell a little more.

He was a very good guitar player.
Travis are one of the best bands that I always forget I like.
Glen Campbell did a very good cover of this song.
sing sing sing?  I guess it provides ample rhyming opportunities...

I have this song rated 9;  I quite enjoy U2 and Coldplay.
Take every copy of this song and fire it into space. Utter tosh.

I suspect he got 86ed because at lot of crybabies cannot take a joke.   Score one for the whiners.   This comment board could use right about now a healthy dose of a sense of humor. We have some major league dullards here who want to turn the board into sanitized wiki-music page.

I have a serious proposal for guidelines.  The New Yorker magazine prints the word "fuck" all the time.  You can watch HBO and hear the word as well.  Kids of all ages watch HBO.  Every single 10 year old kid I knew in 1980 watched skinimax on cable.  I doubt anything has changed.  Bill Maher is a funny, potty mouthed lefty nut who I watch and who entertains me very much.  If it could be said on Maher, then it should be OK for the RP comment board.

I agree we don't want anything like nudity.  I am sure I am not alone here in that I work in a professional environment and from time to time I read comments on break at work.  My office is like every singe office in the USA.  We are talking about at least a 100 million citizens here with office jobs.  It is considered sexual harassment if a man or woman has an image of a naked woman or man on his or her screen.  Even a woman scantily clad in a bikini could be grounds for a termnination based on harassment.  The reason for this practice is quite simply those sophisticated, cultural elite feminists.  It's not the "puritanical", "unsophisticated" USA we are talking about here. I happen to agree with it.  It would be a very hostile work environment if people could just have provocative photos on their computer screens at work.

I just love this song — it feels like a cozy pair of slippers, just nice.  9 —->10
Loves me some banjo.
Just checked out the Glen Campbell version of this song per the recommendation of a couple RP listeners below. Good stuff. BillG could add the Campbell version to the playlist for one of those "and now for something completely different" moments.

Not knowing who was playing, I kept waiting for the bellow of Florence, glad it never came.

Yeah, I remember their cover of this song had so much more energy to it and the drumming was killer.

Really amusing set of fanboy comments on the Travis website regarding Campbell's excellent cover. Especially the outrage over banjo in the arrangement, as if the instrument was not used in this recording.

Nice song.

this is fantastic—-i might make this my philosophy of life

Actually I would reach for George Harrison first.    Or the Eagles for that matter.  Nice pop tune.  Gorgeous.

9 because I love what he sings.
Epic introduction and banjo.

Very good live as well.
7 -> 8
Great song from a great album.
points for excellent use of banjo
Another interesting Scottish band but I hate this song. Prefer "Drift Wood", "Turn" and of course "Why Does It Always Rain On Me" from the first album.
Travis is one of those bands who's music I either really like or strongly dislike. This, happily is one of the songs that I like a lot.
Well sorry to spoil the percentage but I hate this song .

Um, decent music aside, those are some flippin' big trees! We certainly don't have anything like that here in the high desert of Central Oregon. Big pine trees, though.
Easy-listening, straightforward and.... quite enjoyable.

Well, it just goes to show you - you can disagree with someone on a cellular level about almost everything, and then some point of commonality will bring you together. I agree (but I'll phrase it differently, as my English teacher drilled into my head) - I find this song boring...
Travis is one of those bands I dearly want to like. In this song, and also "Writing to Reach You," I feel like they finally achieve their potential. But most of the time, I thik they underachieve.

Reminds me of when my car had an antenna, and I'd listen to RTL2 on my way to and from work.
