Actually, this is from Every Picture Tells a Story, his third solo disc and one of three (including The Rod Stewart Album and Gasoline Alley) that put his solo career on the charts. It was after these excellent recordings that his choices of material and style led to what Rolling Stone called a "massive betrayal of talent." Regardless, I've long considered his debut of "You're in My Heart" at the Grammys (don't remember the year—1977?) a highlight—cloying, but still well done. Dude can sing.

Great song, of course he is older so this version is not as good as the original release, but a great song nonetheless!
Rod Stewart was pretty good singing for Jeff Beck.  When he set out on his own and got popular I lost all interest.

After hearing this, I checked to see how many Tim Hardin songs are in the RP library. None. Yet this crap plays? I think I'm gonna puke. Yep. Gonna puke.
I had only heard his top 40 stuff when I saw him in concert some 30 years ago. Was pleasantly surprised at how much of a rocker he was and how much more there was to him. Still, this isn't his best effort.
this song was marginal in the 90s.  in theory it's a good song, however, mainstream radio in my formative years ruined it.  boohoo

Rod Stewart is to me as the Eagles are to the Dude.
