Another head hangs lowly,
Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence,
Who are we mistaken?

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...

Another mother's breakin',
Heart is taking over.
When the vi'lence causes silence,
We must be mistaken.

It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.
In your head, in your head they're still fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying...

In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a...

Hey Bill, you said (if this wasn't pre-recorded from another week, month, year) that it feel apropo to play it today, despite not wanting to hear it again. I will agree with you. I'm listening to this song on RP while I work, and it felt right for today, March 19th 2024, 8:10am CST or so. It just did, so good choice, and I agree with your sentiment. Sometimes, if the moment is right, the song will fit, regardless of how many times it has been played before.
Another great Irish talent that left us way too early, hence why William played this after Sinéad O'Connor.
Such a shame she had to leave.
I have to shut this off every time.  It's long been overplayed and it just kills the mood.
The great thing about RP is that it can occasionally take a song you have heard 70 gajillion times and put it in a different context and make you realise that it's actually pretty darn good and you should really stop being such a frickin' rock snob
This song very relevant with all that is happening in Ukraine🥲
This song is as relevant today as it was when it was written...

I am currently singing along, yes.
Always reminds me of the Stiltskin track that was used in a Levi's advert - Inside.

Well, damned or not, it's not a "falsetto".

Try sending, what you can, to RP.  You'll like RP even more.
I find it one of the rare songs that just gets even better with age. Never gets old
Dolores O'Riordan was an extraordinary talent and taken from us too soon.
absolutely, positively love this song.
a lot.

"Zombie" is a protest song by Irish alternative rock[1] band The Cranberries, written by the band's lead singer Dolores O'Riordan in memory of the two young victims who were killed in the 1993 Warrington bombings, Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry. (Wikipedia)

Glad I could clear that up :-).

Sorry you had to.  I hear plenty of variety on RP. You guys are hands down the best free music site , without question .  This guy that complained  might want to try the other channels  to expand his....whatever.
Now rack up Stairway to Heaven and set it to play 5x straight !!

Pandora has but one feature that makes its good, but still the lesser to RP is that the stations are very broad.   Their  repetition, recycling  gets tiresome.
I really wish I could add financial  support.

Thank for what you provide  to music lovers.

The political ideology bothers me. False moral equivalency.

Not for me. Can't stand her voice.

he he. Funny thing about music is there gonna be people who like some things and others not. I'd rather listen to this song a hundred times in a row than hear Moby and U2. Other people like it. So, I click fast forward and on we go.
Cool strong telling song Love it
Where did I see a funny ad for a Cranberries alarm clock with that annoying vocal sample from this song? Maybe SNL.

The Cranberries' hope was that sounding like fingernails on the chalk board would be enough to raise zombie consciousness. Their's is no disgrace.
This tune rocks!

Overplayed?

Inflected?

I completely agree with the response, but should it be "google ..."?  It seems as though the verb should be lower case.

Pedantically, yer ob'l'i'ed serv'nt.

Hasn't gotten any better - it's still yodeling.
ABORTION.
Turning this one up!
Do I hate this song? Shit yeah!
I hope the listeners here realize Dolores O'Riordan died a year ago after drowning in her bathtub.  RIP Dolores O'Riordan.  Her voice and the originality of the band will be forever remembered.

If there's a cover of this song one day, at least the singing won't be worse than the original, that's kind of comforting.
outstanding. raises the hair on the back of my neck.

i hate this one, just my opinion and it does get a lot of plays and no psd on my stramer
She is a beautiful singer, and this song is suppose to make you feel uncomfortable.  I see folks are critical of the singing, and it being uncomfortable.  The name of the song is "Zombie", were you expecting lul-a-bye  One of the most power songs to come out of the '90s.

One of my very few PSDs.  The forced inflection gets on my wick.

Great music but the most annoying singer in pop history, After hearing this MY throat hurts. Sinead is good second.
{#Guitarist}{#Dance} LOVE IT
I never understood if it was in the production or in the performance, but I love how her voice is more of an instrument on this than just a vocal. It's percussive and lyrical - in the way Michael Jackson could be. Odd comparison, I know, but this is a bloody great choon.
If anyone in London has a chance to see the play "The Ferryman", it will be worth your while.  Set in Thatcher's time, but the hurt of the conflict still feels like it's resonating.
I confess I did not know much of this group until the death of O'Riordan. What a powerful song.
How could she leave us so soon??
Rest in peace Dolores

Well said. The negative comments here are legit: it's not easy to listen to. But that's the point, isn't it? Tanks and bombs and guns shouldn't be easy to listen to. It's angry and sad and frustrating, a cry of rage.

Ms. O'Riordan speaks for the victims: it's not supposed to sound nice.
I miss you Dolores. The Cranberries, and in particular your voice, were the soundtrack to much of my life.
Such a beautiful, immortal voice...
One of the most annoying songs ever. However it was sad to hear of Ms. O'Riordan's death.  Much too soon. RIP.

This could be my least favorite song of all time. Perhaps tied with Cher's "Believe".

I read the Williams book in a history course in college and can only note that most of our fellow citizens (now there's a charged word, whose meaning seems less clear by the day) have never read this work, nor would they have the patience to confront the realities described. If only people knew? If only people were prepared to think critically about the world that we all inherit! If you can figure out how to get those who live in modern societies that have such singed pasts, the effects of which are still with us, to try and understand how we got here, you will have accomplished a great deal. Oh, I like this song, despite its jarring properties.
This one just gets to me. Strong guitar, strong bass, strong voice, strong lyrics.
O'Rirodan's voice is great and while off key at times is intentional.

I don't get your reference to low fees or what you are trying to imply. As far as I know, the programming here is not based on fee levels, but if you have proof to the contrary, please share. Btw, I don't care for this song either, but some of what other people like here I don't. That's the way it goes.

Gotta be in a certain mood for this song, though it is good and strong. Zombies
(Flashed back to a job I had in a large graphic house, a new hire was this LARGE Vietnam vet to do simple paste-ups. John was only there about a month when his quiet seering-gaze really had us all wondering what's his problem; one afternoon nervous little Richie comes back from the men's room telling us Big John is in there punching holes in the wall! Well the only one of us who's ever had lunch with John was Butch, who told us John would remember times in Nam, great friends "yeah, cool guys. Their dead"
Butch went in to speak to him, said later John was sure there was a plot against him. Butch helped him take a walk and some time to chill, time to realize we weren't a threat, Butch helped him through a long night and got John to see some Vet help

never saw John again, hope he made it through
