hmm, yea a bit of that for sure, and the words 'Into the Valley...' are now going round & round in the back of my head and i have no idea why...
I like the other Younger Brother tracks I've heard on RP.
This one is 'ok', but i don't dig it as much as the others.

This is a very good album. I like albums you can listen straight through and enjoy every song. This album is one of those.

I like YB because I hear diverse musical influences such as Pink Floyd and Stereolab but with a modern sound.

By and large I've enjoyed Older Brother songs/tunes. This one started out as a 7 but dropped down to a 5 for wearing out its welcome (8 minutes ... seriously?), not because there aren't great songs/tunes that are rather long, but this one has nothing special going for it. Good for background music only.

I still feel all the Shpongle that Simon Posford brings to this band, even in more recent works than this amazing track, and I deeply appreciate it. I also dig the more dynamic, melodic, hummable, drummable angles his band-mates give him to play with here. The Floydian art is yet another nod and sly grin from him that I like.

Update: ... I wrote this four years ago, and I count it a little differently now.  It starts in 10s (6 beats + 4 beats) changing to 8/8 in mid-song.

If the mellow mix had more tracks like this I would actually listen to it, as it is, more often I hear nasally singers that kind of grate at the ears. RP has such a catalogue of songs that are instrumental without every song always having a vocalist I feel there is a big miss in not having a mellow mix that is more instrumental than more singer song writers. Tracks like Happy Pills, Emancipator - Lionheart, Bonobo - No Reason (feat. Nick Murphy), Delirium by Euphoria etc etc  would be excellent (or if there are songs on mellow mix with vocalists something more hushed like Enigma, Moby, Billie Eilish).

Another fan here! I love the way Posford plays with complex time signatures (amongst other things). Last Days of Gravity is my favourite YB album. There's a lot to love in Shpongle and Hallucinogen - I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite album.

This album and 'A Flock of Bleeps' are both excellent. Pretty much everything Simon Posford touches is golden. There are better tracks on this album, but this is no slouch. Their 3rd album, 'Vaccine', was a real divergence and was extremely divisive amongst YB's fans. So much so that they released an electronic version to appease those of us who weren't looking for yet another guitar and vocals band. The electronic version of 'Vaccine' (which Bill plays a lot from) is good but it pales next to the first two YB albums.

'Ribbon on a Branch' and 'Psychic Gibbon' from this cut and 'Magic Monkey Juice' and 'Finger' from 'A Flock of Bleeps' are a few of the best electronic tunes written in the past couple of decades. If you like this track then you really should go out and get both those albums. Take a look at Simon Posford's Hallucinogen back catalogue, and Benji Vaughan's Prometheus stuff too whilst you are on the tip.

Nah. I mean the cover art IS weird, but it's Storm Thorgerson (the guy who did Pink Floyd and many other iconic album covers over the years) so of course it is.

But this song is pretty in-line with the electronica Bill plays on this station. Good groove, not too challenging (no Squarepusher or Aphex Twin), lots of blips and bloops, good stuff!

Hi I am logged on to the mobile version of RP player with a new smartphone and I keep losing signal and then the the music stream goes into fast fwd play like it's trying to catch up on itself.

I bought this because I heard it here. I actually bought two of their cds. Both excellent.

That said I thankfully didnt buy arcade fire or arctic monkeys because of what I have heard here. Fortunately since they wont go away presumably because of their talent there is the PSD button. :)
