You Lucky Duck.  I wish that I could have been there too!
GREAT TUNE!!  RP introduced me to P.T., now they are one of my favorite bands. That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!

It WORKS VERY WELL for this tune!!!
Two very different RP listeners say they know good drumming.  One says Gavin's too simple, one says he's the best.  One of them must be wrong.  Now me: they're both wrong.

This is curious. In the USA, Audio CD (new) is $23.37 + $3.99 S&H; what's the deal with that?

You could also buy a sealed first press of the 2007 vinyl for $260.... you'd have to be scotch lump to spend that kind of bees.

Strings bring to mind Zep.
I know it's been said many times but Gavin Harrison's drumming on this is amazing.  He just drives this track forward with power and grace.

ah mate, he was awesome. My brother & I saw SW in Melbourne, flew from Perth (3000 kms East just for the concert)

Guess he was en-route to USA. Same show. Packed with great songs and a good 3 hours. I missed PT years ago and hanging out for him to come down-under! Yeah- thanks RP for setting me on this journey with PT and SW. Cheers ! {#Music}
Wow, third PT track played on RP today! And the Hand. Cannot. Erase. concert was awesome. Hand. Cannot. Erase. was played first and then back catalog items including this track were played after the intermission.
Got my tix for Steven Wilson at the Majestic Theater here in Dallas in November. Can't wait. Saw PT at House of Blues in 2010, SW there in 2012 and now this 2016 show at the Majestic coming up. Sweet! Big thanks to Bill and RP for playing PT so much!

4 1/2   the latest CD put out by Steven Wilson is excellent.  Man, are his rejects good!

Some of it sounds like Frank Zappa.  A couple of songs mix heavy rock and jazz tones.

 I particularly like the re-do of Don't Hate Me, originally put on the Porcupine Tree Stupid Dream CD.   Ninet Tayeb sings with Steven Wilson.  The re-do is more jazzier than the original.

I would upload Don't Hate Me (with Ninet Tayeb) to RP if I thought the boss would bite.  Maybe it is an acquired taste....

If you are a fan, I highly recommend 4 1/2.

Symphonic, in the grand Floydian Tradition. Excitedly enigmatic, and rippling with exquisite radiant darkness. Sonic brilliance with guts.
Pink Floyd followed by... Porcupine Tree.  I see what you are doing there Bill but you need to make the segues more convoluted so we have to work harder at trying to solve the puzzle. It's like the Hunger Games for music :)
One of my favourite cuts off an excellent CD.

The underlying message is whatever you do, do not get blotto.

The message is an anti-blotto message.
When is Mr. Wilson & Co. coming to Canada...eh?
Just amazing ending. After the big break, the song slowly builds until it eventually has 3 different keyboard rifs laying over each other, plus a great bass drive rif. Then that ending keyboard solo kicks in.....brilliant. SW has so much talent to burn, he just throws so much music into a single song that most bands would use to build a full record.
9 --> 10
This band has a very high ratio of masterpieces per album. Just sayin'
Great song.

I haven't studied it in detail (yet), but I believe that band and/or solo iterations of Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler, and David Byrne each get more airplay here than Porcupine Tree does.  Peter Gabriel, The Cowboy Junkies, and Natalie Merchant may also be pretty close.

Could be right.  I own over a dozen PT CDs and this radio station still manages to play a PT song I don't have. Which is immensely pleasing.

Steven Wilson is the renaissance man of our time.
I think that bass is not prominent enough.

2 Good!
he managed to work in the word "torpor" in the song. gotta love it!
Yes, yes......... Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson over and over, and there is no end of  a perfect music, allways creativ, innovativ, full of surprises, new ideas, cryptic meanings..........like if all members of Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Van-der-Graaf-Generator, King Crimson and even Mahavishnu Orchestra were reborn and got a reincarnation in the mind of Steven Wilson. I do not believe in God but this could be a miracle....God give a long life to S.W. and P.T. and Blackfield and........and al the side branches of this family.

By the way........in the final part of Sleep together there is another divine contribution- a guy named John Lennon and his Indie-Band called Beatles. Do you know them?{#Nyah}
Been hooked on Porcupine Tree since I heard it here first. This last half hour or so has been righteous! RP has been  turning me onto awesome new music. Thanks RP and Porcupine Tree!  I'm coveting what  Bill and Rebecca do....
What a fantastic transition from Floyd's Marooned
I hear a lot of NIN influence here....good tune....8
That was a great transition between two rather different songs.
I'd give this a 10+ if I could, such a powerful song.
I really like the sound these guys produce. The lyrics to this one however... don't quite do it for me.

still a solid 7. especially the end

..i dunno..could also read it as escaping consumerism (Prada) & contemp society/standard expectations (off the grid/"all my files erased")..

A little hard for Radio Paradise, but really cool!

An amazing band.  I saw them live, twice last year, and they are every bit as precise.  True professionals.
SW really does seem to enjoy and employ shock factor in his album covers/ videos etc.

I agree, this is f*k'n terrific. 8.
This so god damn good. I'm longtime fan of PT and always find something new in their music with every listen. Good to see that they have made a big impression on the other side of the Atlantic.
I've met Steven a few times (i'm good friends with the guy who does his artwork) and he always has fresh ideas into which to take his music either with PT, solo or other collaborations.

I have made a compilation CD with alternating PT and Radiohead (album tracks only) and they go well together.

THIS...IS SHAKING THE WALLS HERE...and I LIKE IT!  Hell of a set, going on hours now with jam after JAM!  Way to go, RP!

I say G0d Damn, that is one hell of a song.  I always thought this song sounded like it could have had John Paul Jones on keyboards.  I think the ending keyboard solo reminds me of some of the JPJ's stuff on his solo album Zooma.
This song is reminding me of those 90's Industrial rock bands — ala Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, NIN etc etc.  And that is a good thing, I liked that music back in the day, and nice to hear now & again.

you are becoming my teacher fred - lot's of expressions I didn't know (and thanks to wikipedia)

this song is quite dark, like purple dark, almost in the same way as are some poems by Rimbaud or Verlaine, les poetes maudits. I like to think about them more as free minds, and may be this is indeed a curse.
In some ways Steven Wilson reminds me of them
edit : from dog's bollocks to verlaine, quite a jump in just one comment

As always, a big, big thanks to RP for introducing me to PT, as there's no way I'd have heard any of their stuff otherwise. I've not come across a duff album or song by them yet. This number gets a very rare 10 rating from the Nottingham jury.
