Recently it was suggested to me that the whole fundraiser was a scam. How could someone be a graphic designer but not earn a living or how can someone be a falconer but need help moving? I wrote a reply on the website. Explaining the disabilities and eccentricities of this condition is almost impossible. You almost have to live with it to really get a feel for it. So I write a a simple response and as far as I'm concerned if it's not good enough, too bad. Donate to someone else. There's no shortage of people suffering and in need out there.

"IT'S A SCAM!" Some one said.

About autism: Some people have asked what autism is and how it affects me  and Maggie. I can’t speak for Maggie and I’m not going into too many details about my personal life other than to say I am vocal, appear fairly normal and can maintain what might pass for normal interaction with people for a limited time - this is after many years of practice and learning to mimic the traits of neuro-typical people. I’ve lived my entire life outside the bubble of a world that many people call “normal”. I’m out here, you’re in there. I can see you but you can’t see me. I communicate best through writing and people who know me will attest to my aversion to answering the phone or, even worse, actually being among other human beings. I’ve had a variety of jobs, been fired from them all. Occasionally, I’ve found work for people who are wiling to pay extremely low wages in exchange for tolerating “the weirdo”. After my last and final attempt at working in the neuro-typical corporate environment failed as usual, I decided - or, rather, was forced to try working as an independent contractor from home. I’ve found a couple clients who actually have no problem hiring an autistic graphic designer and paying a fair wage but these folks are few and far between - the wolf is never far from the door. I could go on and on describing all the things I can’t do and all the ways I’m different from you but I prefer to live and let live. I’ve gleaned a lifestyle that is spartan and simple but safe and satisfying. Some people may think I'm an idiot because I can't fill out the simplest form - but I can manage to train a hawk. I get lost every time I leave the house yet I can remember enough computer commands to operate Adobe software and do graphic and architectural design. It's a neurological and developmental disorder; it's not going to be easy to explain. But to anyone who thinks Maggie and I are scamming them, I could provide reams of references  - but I won't. My advice is, if you think this is a scam, share your kindness with someone else - there is no shortage of people who need it.

 Cheers,

Rob and Maggie

Thanks so much to all the wonderful people who have
already donated, offered services or supported us with
love and kindness since this ordeal began. We've raised
over half of what we need to make this happen but the
cash flow has really started to taper off. Please consider
downloading and printing a few posters that you can
put up somewhere that might get the right kind attention.
Or pass them around to others. Please don't give up.
If we all keep trying I KNOW we can find a decent healthy
home for all of us before the time limit expires. (This
house has black mold and is infested with rats) Keep trying
- we have faith in you. Pass this around. pAss posters around.
We love you all - ♥Maggie and ♥Rob (and ♥Tessy and ♥India)

I have never seen anyone love every single living thing in the universe the way she does. It's absolutely indescribable.

Every time I look at these posts, here and over there, I am struck by Mag's joyful beauty (not that you're not lovely, Rob ... {#Naughty} ). Please pass on my felicitations to her.
