LOL - Scott , only on RP can someone else chime in with a further critique of a book no-one in my local world has read or would consider reading. Thank you.
Yeah that's RP for sure. I think I actually have 1/3 of it to go, now that I think of it.
Thank you, everyone! The testing revealed new cancer activity, in both bones and liver, so that was bad.
BUT, I am a candidate for a new type of treatment that involves genomic testing. This will, hopefully, result in a targeted treatment protocol, with drugs that are proven to be effective against my specific types of cancer cells.
(you may recall that I had two different kind of breast cancer, one in each breast)
This is GOOD news. REALLY good news!
My tissue samples from 2015 are still viable and available, and will be sent for testing this coming week. We should know something within about three weeks.
There is also a possibility that I could be part of a study, and if that will help others, I am on board, 100%
In addition, there is a method of radiation therapy that may be able to help with the pain from the bone mets. Counterintuitively, it actually helps to heal the bone lesions!
This is on the back burner for now, though, as we want to see what the genomic testing reveals, AND, my pain level is variable and random at this point. It also responds well to plain old ibuprofen, so we want to put off using radiation until nothing else seems to help, and the pain is ... more persistent.
Obviously, the hope is that we do not get to that point, but, if we do, this is an option.
Doc has given me the all clear to continue dancing, as long as I am careful.
I appreciate your ongoing positive thoughts, and your supportive hearts.
Missed this. Fingers crossed on getting into the program. Some of those therapies really are astounding.
Still a lot of dancing in you yet!
Code Breaker is good but I yawned through most of the soap opera deep dive into the personalities of the scientists. A little is interesting but the story is the race for space, as it were. Some chapters have almost zero discussion of science. In the end, though, I'm sure I'll remember more of the peoples' stories than I think I will.
I have a sticky note on the page that says CRISPR is Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats. I feel like if I can remember that, I can remember what it means and how they're making it work.

That sounds like Crispr therapy. I am praying for you. If you want a great book about Crispr try Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson .

Awwwww damn T!
New genetic development is really showing a lot of promise.
I wish you complete success on a treatment plan.

Good luck! I really hope you qualify for the new treatment protocol and it knocks the cancer on it's bloody arse!
