Found this in my dad's garage this weekend: NCR 3150. He was gonna trash it so I brought it home. Complete with power supply/charger and manual, the battery will not charge and it won't boot up; gonna give it to one of the IT guys at the office who likes to tinker with old stuff like this.

I worked on 100's of these CDC 9766 drives. They has Twenty 14 inch platters for a whopping 300 mb and about 150ms seek time. they used a huge linear motor and 20 heads that cost $852 our cost each. Even in clean rooms these needed their HEPA filters changed once a month. When they crashed it would destroy the heads and the platters would look like a car brake rotor that was run metal to metal forever, I designed and built a portable tester for putting the heads to the alignment track and for doing long seeks to adjust the servo etc. was fun stuff.

I have one of those on my desk at the office, along with several others of diminishing physical but increasing storage size.

AT&T confirms that there is indeed a DSL outage in my town.  They have no estimated time for restoration of service, but most outages last 24 hours.  Really?  wtf
