No, it's country-fried because people read "chicken-fried" and thought "chicken, fried" and that maybe "steak" was a typo or that it was "chicken steaks" like "chicken cutlets" that were fried. Or something. I have read the gravy argument and I disagree. That's just a back-formation. You fry the steak the same way you fry your chicken. If that means just dredge it in flour and fry, so be it. If it means egg batter then dredge, great. Different cooks calling similar things by different names led people to assume there was a distinct difference between chicken- and country- but there is not.

The way I heard it was that VV got pissed and left in a huff from his recent Pickleswitch Anonymous meeting. Seems he wanted to discuss his special ingredients but the moderator cut him off stating that the rules are to leave your dill at the door.
