Listening to it now. I'm not good at describing music, as i know nothing about structure, chords and all that. I know little about instruments also. So keep that in mind. {#Smile}

It's prog, as expected. Definitely can hear Yes thoughout. Now and then Howe goes slightly out of the prog genre (that i can tell) but not for long. The drumming, although good overall, gets a bit in your face at times. I'm more of a guitar lover so that may have something to do with it. (The first time that i started noticing how good drumming can really get was with King's X's Jerry Gaskill)

Not sure this makes for good background music (for me, anyways), even though it's all instrumental. Might want to sit back and sip on a brew. Overall i recommend it.

And here's an interesting chart included in the booklet.

I'll have to give that one another spin, as I barely recall any of it. Pretty sure it's the first time I listen to it.

From wiki:

The Köln Concert is a concert recording by the pianist Keith Jarrett of solo piano improvisations performed at the Opera house in Cologne (GermanKöln) on January 24, 1975. The double-vinyl album was released in 1975 by the ECM Records label to critical acclaim, and went on to become the best-selling solo album in jazz history, and the all-time best-selling piano album, with sales of more than 3.5 million.

For me, not being familiar with all of his older stuff except for the radio hits, this is better.

Of course, it's bluesy, and that sits very well with me.

I got another one coming soon...i'm busy on the computer and that gives me a chance to spin some CDs from my own personal archive and newer stuff i bought.

Interesting.  I have it in the vinyl box set but have yet to play it.  I already have 6 songs from it rated here, all 7 or better.  Should give it a spin soon and see how it sounds in the context of an album.
