This has recently become the go-to brew in the house.  The only problem is we live 10 hours from Ann Arbor (they do ship).

Mother Pheasant Plucker is also very nice!

That's fun. My mom used to have a little pot of drip Community on the stove most of the day. She collected the coupons from the bags and sometimes we'd go to the Community place and redeem them for stuff like cookware. For me, it's symbolic of poor south Louisiana - like Jim Beam was to me.

Now, those brands have managed to not only maintain, but thrive and develop their own cachet.

Indeed. I use to take mine 1 cream (milk? ugh!) 1 sugar. I slowly cut back over a year's time or so and now it has to be black. Like they say, once you go black you never go back.

Last month I learned why Canukisatanians order a Double-Double at Tim Hortons - that's the only way Timmy's coffee is drinkable.

Well, I dunno. I like their dark roast, black. For a 'fast food' coffee, it ain't too bad.

And anyone that needs two cream/milk and 2 sugars with it, they obviously don't like coffee, so...

Depending on the roaster, it might not be all Colombian and probably isn't all Arabica either. I like a few specific beans/roasts from specific roasters, but the larger the company, the more likely they're roasting a blend of beans (from different plantations/countries and Arabica+Robusta) to maintain a consistent profile and keep the caffeine up (Robusta has more caffeine, dark roasting loses caffeine, so you can do that math). I read somewhere that there's 3x as much Colombian coffee on the market as there is coffee grown in Colombia. I'm sure coffee grown in Venezuela is smuggled to Colombia just because of the politics of selling commie coffee here at the moment.

Edit: And to actually answer the question: the lighter roasted coffee retains more caffeine.

I have one cup of medium roasted Arabica a day, with half milk in. I rarely drink coffee after 3PM... except after a meal in a restaurant. If you make coffee in a pot where you press down, leave the boiling water for about 30 sec. before you pour it in. It will taste much better!

Interesting, according to one source, it apparently has much to do with the method of measurement - volume or weight, and the density of the beans - but ultimately the plant species and origin:
"If you measure your coffee by scoops, light roasted coffee will have more caffeine. Since the beans are denser than a darker roast. However if you weigh out your scoops, darker roasts will have more caffeine, because there is less mass. What should also be noted is that Arabica beans vary in levels of caffeine depending on the plant species."

As I've mentioned  before, I generally avoid very dark roasts, you're essentially tasting more carbon than coffee.

I descaled and totally cleaned the coffee maker before leaving on vacation.
Don't really want to mess that up so it'll be one less thing to clean before the family gets home.
Haven't had coffee in a few days.
Sitting here at the office tho, lamenting at how I'm just too lazy to make coffee.
Staring at the Keurig, trying to muster the strength.
Office lady comes in with a cup from Starbucks. A big cup.
Takes a sip, says, "This isn't chai, it's just {eww} strong coffee!"
Offers it to me for confirmation. I said, "I haven't had coffee in a few days, you might not get this back."
She says "you want it? I was going to throw it out."
Now I'm reading the paper cup: "Helloooooo, free coffee." Actually some promotion for their rewards card but I'm not oblivious to the greater implications.

You know you really love your dog when — because it's supposed to be stormy (possibly thunderstormy) much of the day — you take her for a good walk BEFORE coffee. lol
