The US’s Inalienable Right to Violence
Even when critical of US actions, media commentary on recent US bombings and assassinations in the Middle East is premised on the assumption that the US has the right to use violence (or the threat of it) to assert its will, anytime, anywhere. Conversely, corporate media coverage suggests that any countermeasure—such as resistance to the US presence in Iraq—is inherently illegitimate, criminal and/or terroristic.

The Bigotry of Environmental Pessimism

Democratic Presidential candidates and the New York Times rightly condemned the use of inflammatory words like “invasion” by President Donald Trump and Fox News hosts to describe the desperate people coming from Latin America to seek a better life in the U.S. Such language is irresponsible and may very well have contributed to the motivation of a man suspected to have killed 13 Americans, eight Mexicans, and one German in El Paso last week. In a manifesto he posted online before the attack, the suspect also used the word “invasion.”

While they are at it, they should condemn the inflammatory rhetoric used by environmentalists, which also may have contributed to the motivations of the El Paso shooting suspect. The suspect justified his mass shooting of people in a Walmart by arguing that “our lifestyle is destroying the environment of our country.” The suspect writes, “y’all are just too stubborn to change your lifestyle. So the next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources. If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.”

 more

Of course violence is never the answer, but this is a logical conclusion the shooter comes to and one I happen to agree with.   We are in our current environmental crisis because of all of our lifestyles including improved medical technology which results in unnatural human population levels and harm to the environment.  Where I digress from the shooters final assessment is that we are waaaaay too far gone to do anything about it so there is no use in shooting otherwise innocent people.   But he is on to something and why I believe both climate change alarmist and deniers are equally full of shit in their own ways.

i listened to this in the background today

James Alan Fox: There Is No Evidence of an 'Epidemic of Mass Shootings'

The nation's leading scholar of mass shootings explains how media coverage of horrific events such as El Paso and Dayton stoke unwarranted fear and anxiety.

typical headline but a good podcast

recommended

just happened to do a search afterward and of course it was scooped by the powers that be

trump's handlers, the bezos blog, etc.

i looked through some of his work and he doesn't seem to be a fan president at all

however, i predict he's going to get abused the industrial outrage complex (all 7%?)

availability heuristic in action

unless they actually listened to what he is saying and or look at his data
