Unfortunately, William Goldsmith is admitting in an interview, he's getting his musical inspiration from a robot playing music under a well known "green logo", and his daughter, Alanna is ASKING FOR NEW INPUT from that same source in a recent blog article on this site as typically urgent. Just a click away.

Can you spot the sham?

But you would hope that anyone trying to make it in the music biz has a passing knowledge of what's going on, and if not her, then her cadre including the producer.

Yeah, it's certainly possible - even likely - that someone associated with that recording was aware of the song - like the producer(s) or engineer.

Both songs use a I - iii - vi - V progression (though the latter tune sounds like it's using a major chord instead of a minor for the III chord), which was especially popular in the '90s - think of bands like Weezer, Semisonic, etc.  Schlesinger generally wrote songs with more "sophisticated" chord progressions.  But, yeah same melody and tempo, though the Fountains of Wayne tune has real instruments, the Oladokun tune seems to be electronic with midi samples for guitar sounds, etc.  Somehow I doubt Joy Oladokun ever heard of Fountains of Wayne.  Anyhow, that newer song is vastly inferior.

It totally rips off Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger (RIP). I really hope I never have to sit through that again.
