I really don't know why any of you are surprised that anyone who is facing an out of pocket loss of a quarter of a billion dollars and the loss of their livelihood is not going down swinging.

Being taken down with an ancient law that to the best of my knowledge has never been used in modern times.  I might be mistaken on its usage over time, I am sure someone will correct me.

That being said, this is another example of there are so many laws on the books that everyone is guilty of breaking some law.  And how that if someone in the government wants to go after you, you're toast because if they really want you, no one has deep enough pockets to fight back when the government has unlimited resources.

This is one way how democracy really ends.  It starts with selective enforcement of laws, making examples out of others, scaring and intimidating those watching, hoping that they roll over and submit.

So who again is the greatest threat to democracy right now ?  I would say it is those who are currently in power and in charge.  Not the ones who are challenging them.
