I didn't realize it becomes like a "permanent" method after registering that way.  Is that something unique to Montana?  I have never voted by mail - no particular reason to though I guess it could be more convenient.  I did wait in long voting lines sometimes when I lived in the NYC area, but that seemed to vary based on which neighborhood I lived in - some had more polling places than others or maybe some had fewer people who felt like voting.  Anyhow, waiting in lines is nothing out of the ordinary when you live in a big metropolitan area.  Where I live now there's hardly ever a wait, somewhat because NC has early voting (which, I'm told, is why we're presently being more bombarded with political ads than states which do not have EV).  However, there are still a number of little old ladies who do a lot of the work in the polling places.

however i searched this mail in vote thing and it has been an issue (or accusation) on both sides in the past

reason has a pretty good article about voting by mail now

edit: what i'm saying is request ballot by mail or absentee early and mail them asap

and don't pin your hopes on the mail thing, count on masking up social distancing and voting in person

start early as possible, like now

find out where early voting in person is allowed and go and take a friend

I have been voting by mail since 2009. I think my votes got to the polls in time, but how would I know? I'm still waiting for the MCC disc miamiszun mailed me two weeks ago. USPS tracking sez it's "in transit". Last month tracking said a package was in transit, then unknown. They just didn't know where they left it. It went missing for the better part of a month. Then they said it was delivered. A few days later it actually was.

UPS will show me on a live map where my package is. Fedex will let me track it from depot to depot and to the truck. USPS? It's...on a journey, perhaps a quest. Maybe it's slaying dragons and finding hidden treasure; it just never brings any home.

Since I first signed up to vote by mail I haven't been able to turn the option off. I miss voting in person, miss hanging out with my neighbors and the little old ladies who run the polls. I like having lots of time to research candidates and ballot initiatives, but I miss the experience of doing democracy elbow to elbow.

He's become the swollen and distended muse for chronic discontent and derision as if blood itself was fueling the feeding frenzy. A bloated salvo
of gnawing chagrin.
A dark and cautionary embrace of slumber  in which blame and responsibility sleeps like an infant in the arms of self destruction.

Or a baby’s arm holding an apple?

That sounds like some sort of weapon of mass distraction.
That takes a team effort to pull off.
Allusions aside ,I would think that intelligent arguments would include a healthy dose of introspection and a discriminating blacklight...

Alas, all I have is a  broken strobe light!

Hope strobes eternal...
