It's funny (no, it's tragic) that even when the greatest idiot under the sun, Trump, has left the WH, the alternative is just horrible. You missed the chance for a real change and to connect your society to the first world (what means: health care, social system, etc.).

One of the biggest missed opportunities in my lifetime was the eight years that the GOP arbitrarily obstructed Obama's presidency. Right from the beginning, before any actions they could consider inept, they were chanting "one term president."

Seriously shameful. And now this failure in office, who has repeatedly said and done things that are reprehensible, is their example of how it's done right? SMH.

This pandemic crises shows the lack of quality the POTUS brings to the government, and he is still attractive for more than 45% of the US citizens.

And we got Angela Merkel. {#Daisy}

Beyond just the science undergrads, we're producing more and more "graduates" in general who aren't able to solve problems, consider options, appreciate unknowns.  We've gone too far with specialization and testing to the point of decreasing broad skills.  Eliminating electives like art and music not only potentially limits the quality of art (with fewer introduced to something they may love), but is going to have a dramatic impact on cognitive abilities over time.  OK...this is getting off track and I could bore anyone who alive with my concerns for the future of education...but Scott's comment about disproving common sense couldn't be more accurate.

Interesting comment rgio.  Off track but interesting.

It is not often y0u see some one argue that excessive specialization may lead to a decrease in problem solving abilities.   So-called "smart people" and recognized "experts" typically become that way through a very narrow skill-set focus.    That said, music and math have a lot in common.   Art can teach 'perspective' which can be handy in a number of situations, especially while attempting to herd or otherwise influence humans.

Yes.  Scott nailed the difference between science and "common sense".   Folks in some scientific endeavors spend considerable time using "common sense" propositions as the null hypothesis and generally end up rejecting the "common sense" wisdom.

Try wrapping your head around the meaning of full context.  Question asked.  Full response - whether it was responsive to the exact question or not.   Not possible in your world, right?

I guess you've got your own "special dictionary." A person that holds an office and is involved in or with, get this, policy, is a politician.

So i watched it and heard the same thing.  He said that the stimulus will support the economy for 10 weeks in direct response to a question about the checks for people.

Since we both missed it, exactly what did he say?  How long is that money supposed to last?

STEVEN MNUCHIN: Well, there's really three components of this law now that protects the American public. And the President was determined that we protect the American workers, since it was not their fault that we shut down the economy while we kill this virus. So the first component is small business loans, which about half of the companies in the U.S., people will be able to get small business loans and pay their workers for eight weeks. So we encourage people to do that and get them back to work. Two, they'll be enhanced unemployment insurance. And three, as you said, there'll be these— these checks in the mail or direct deposit. It's really bridge liquidity for people as they go through these difficult times.

MARGARET BRENNAN: Bridge liquidity for about eight weeks?

STEVEN MNUCHIN: Well, I— I think the entire package provides economic relief overall for about ten weeks. Hopefully, we'll kill this virus quicker. In the end, we won't need it, but we— we have liquidity to put into the American economy to support American workers and American business.

10 weeks...$1200.  Agreed it's more for families, but it's still $17/day for 10 weeks.  Again...instead of posting links....please explain the math if that's wrong.

lol

Oh nevermind.  I see your one of the TDS infected bunch.  You will have to wait for 2024 for your next chance at a cure.
