I am going to disagree with that.

Lots of career civil servants in DC have either quit in frustration or are staying in job while grinding their teeth and pulling their hair on a regular basis.

Rich people tend not to wear suits these days but I reckon most of them are alarmed or frustrated by Trump policies and rhetoric.  In most cases, rich people will tend to understand the negative consequences of these policies and this style of rhetoric better than most.

None of these folks will materially suffer the way low-income workers will if and when things go really sideways but in the meantime, a lot of them are worried, some are worried sick.

Remember when Quayle spelled "potato" wrong, and Obama wore a light colored suit and folks had a hissy fit?

Now, Trump flagrantly, repeatedly BREAKS THE LAW (yet again) and his supporters nod and wink. It's all sugar coated with "look how we make the libtards cry" but that's not really what it is at all.

It's a selfish chest-beating "look, we're in power!" that means that America is now not a nation of laws, of fairness, of dignity. It's a vulgar mishmash of lies and racism and violence - sponsored by the GOP. Shame on you all.

They sit smugly supporting a braggart draft dodger bankrupt reality star for a President, who doesn't understand how to maintain dignified relationships with our allies, but befriends Russian and North Korean leaders, lies about protecting our middle and poorer citizens, and sows distrust of our intelligence and military personnel. And his supporters react to this by mindlessly chanting "'Merica!" but not understanding what's happening to America.

You folks that put this idiot (and his children - and you don’t care?) into office - just to spite Hillary - might still insist that you did something right, but that's not what happened at all. It ruined America, and it will take decades to repair the damage. This sort of "anything to keep our party in office" works on both sides, doesn't it? So expect that the GOP has now eliminated any expectation that either side will play fair.

And who will suffer? Spoiler alert: Not the folks in suits in DC.

Good point.  Here in Canada, it is tough to get proportional representation passed.  Perhaps because most people view politics as a winner-takes-all sporting event.  If they only knew and understood to what extent resource companies are now fully committed to social corporate responsibility in recognition of the fact that if there is no broad social and political support, the project does not advance.

Trump takes this obsolete, dysfunctional 'sporting' take on politics to a whole new level.

This is pretty much confirmatory about how I see Trump support. It’s not about good fiscal policy, or improving health care or infrastructure or any of those things that the adults would expect the President of the United States to be doing.

Instead, their support is no more sophisticated than a high school football rivalry, us v them, and lookit them over there crying!

(No one is crying, BTW, except the President. “It’s not FAIR” says the Tweeter-in-Chief, who sounds more like a whiny spoiled teenager every day.)

I’m seeing Governor Cuomo today at The White House. He must understand that National Security far exceeds politics. New York must stop all of its unnecessary lawsuits & harrassment, start cleaning itself up, and lowering taxes. Build relationships, but don’t bring Fredo! 12:30 PM · Feb 13, 2020·Twitter for iPhone
