For me wax and vaping is just not the same.   As with virtually everything else, the old ways are better.

The Election is Over but not the stress.  Any edibles left?

For many people across the United States, help came in the form of gummy bears, cookies, chocolates and gel capsules, all infused with a dose of cannabis calibrated to soothe Election Day jitters.Credit...Kelsey McClellan for The New York Times

Pasted:

Medical professionals largely agree that edibles appear to be safer than smoking or vaping, but note that they carry some risk. The psychoactive effects from edibles can take hours to kick in, leading people to consume one gummy or chocolate too many as they grow impatient.

Personal comment:  Ten years ago, I could not have imagined such an article in any leading newspaper in North America.  Times do change.

NJ has a crazy liquor license process, where depending on the town, the license to sell alcohol can cost you $1M+.   COVID is crushing smaller restaurants and bars with licenses because owners often borrow against them.  Legalizing competition is adding insult to injury.  NJ is in a race to run out of money or run out of people to pay the taxes in an attempt to make California look affordable.   We need marijuana more than ever.

It might look a little tacky but this is bar none, the very best, small, portable water pipe I have ever used.

Yeah, yeah, smoking IS a dirty, ugly way to consume.   Water at least removes a bunch of tar.

Pasted:

The Aqua Pipe was patented in 1979. The inventor used the research of the National Cancer Institute as the basis and motivation for the pursuit of an Aqua Pipe patent. On the inside of every pipe you will find the research pointing to a 91% reduction in tar when smoke is filtered through water with a water pipe. Hoffman, Rathkamp, Wynder, et al., 1963 by Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Vol. 31, No 3, Pgs. 627-635.
The Aqua Pipe is one of the few truly mobile waterpipes. The stem can be folded in and out to take up less space. This makes it extremely efficient compared to other waterpipes. In addition to the small size and efficient design, most importantly when you close the stem the water doesn’t spill and you can transport the Aqua Pipe with no risk of spilling.

This is exactly what I had in the mid to late 80s, easy to keep in a pocket... greatest 'gadget' ever!
Must have given it to someone I don't even remember.
Missing it now, and today...

Measure 110 is one of the most watched initiatives in Oregon because it would drastically change how the state’s justice system treats people caught with amounts for their personal use.

Instead of being arrested, going to trial and facing possible jail time, the users would have the option of paying $100 fines or attending new, free addiction recovery centers.

The centers would be funded by tax revenue from retail marijuana sales in the state that was the country’s first to decriminalize marijuana possession.

It may sound like a radical concept even in one of the most progressive U.S. states — but countries including Portugal, the Netherlands and Switzerland have already decriminalized possession of small amounts of hard drugs, according to the United Nations.

I still smoke weed like it is illegal.

We have this front covered deck that gives terrific views of the river valley.   Been legal here in Canada for almost 2 years now and it is only just recently I will smoke on the front deck but only if nobody is on the street or in the adjacent front yards.

Apparently, I am an arch conservative according to some in our town because I love freemarket capitalism.  A few of the heavier smokers are what I would describe as Red Fascists or fellow-travelling companions.   I love bourbon but it does not make me an American toady.

Weed is now legal in Canada, precisely because so many of a more conservative bent indulge, including a few rather successful folks on the financial street.

Besides cannabis is just too good to be enjoyed only by the select few.

That is the key.  Never flaunt wot you got.  People will just want to take it away from you if you do.

Back in the beginning in the mid 60's in SoCal, all we had to roll with (that worked) were ZZ yellow wheat straw papers.  Not exactly inconspicuous.  Getting stoned was always a beach thing or a party thing back then.  Never a public thing.  I can still remember walking home from my beach (which was private back in those days, now it's a beach state park) one evening (1966 ?) and finding the Newport Beach police tearing this poor guy's car apart, looking for anything they could find.  We all just stood across the street and watched them.  I'll never forget the excitement one cop had when he found a single seed in the car.  Got my attention right then and there, forever.  And the stories of busts at the border which was only 70 miles south.

I've had some close calls and narrow escapes over all these years, but nothing ever became an official matter. Now it's just a personal private thing.  No worries about work or random testing.  Pretty much everyone at work indulges.

And as my buddy r_p linked up below (as I expected he would), I've stated my thoughts about a license.  It's cheaper now but the legal stuff is stupidly expensive.  So I'll just keep doing what I've always done and be careful as always.
