Yes, I believe something similar happened in Wisconsin  several years back (over civil-servant pensions IIRC).  The protesting senators were ordered to be arrested but left the state as well.  It was also without that added "twist".

Yes, I remember when that happened, but I don't believe any of them made a tacit threat about engaging in gunfire with law enforcement officers.  Perhaps he meant it as a sarcastic joke?

Indeed.

It always seems to me to be a "now  we're falling off the cliff to meet our doom on the rocks below" argument.  A seeming inability to differentiate between discrete programs and policies and the indelible imprint of a (perceived) negative brand.

Well, we did have a serious threat of teetotalism back in the 1930s

Kind of ironic when the so called authoritarian, fascist, nazi POTUS orders public universities and those that take federal money to allow free speech on campuses including opposing views not popular with students or administrators aka the mob.

I.e. not enough crypto-fascists and deniers are making money/spreading ideology on the lecture circuit. Having Liberty U just doesn't cut it.

Kinda ironic we needed an order for free speech?  There are some outliers, but most universities are fine with whomever speaks.  It's the rioting and bad behavior they don't want...and that's already illegal.
But let's make an issue/headline out of it to drum up our base/ideology.
