Of course he tries to rationalize it by saying if existing, long-term, undocumented migrant workers are removed, then they'll be replaced by the "murderers from prisons and everything else" - his fall-back excuse.
If Trump were smart, given the support that the MAGA faithful have in him, he would create a one time pathway to anyone here right now...saying....
1) I closed the border...and it will stay closed for now
2) everyone here right now has 2 choices....
- Register within the next 3 months for permanent asylum. Everyone who registers can stay in the country until we process their case, protected under the laws and Constitution of the US.
- Anyone who doesn't register and is located, arrested for a speeding ticket, or is looks at anyone funny after the 3 months... immediate and permanent deportation.
3) Close all legal migration to everyone not escaping war or persecution....which will be adjudicated quickly, and you will be admitted or not.
4) Reform immigration in Congress.
5) Take all of the resources that are focused on deportation, and spend the money on judges, case workers, and employees to process everyone who comes forward in #2.
Trumps a grifting a-hole, but if he could pull this off... he would create a legacy as POTUS that would make it difficult to keep him among the worst Presidents of all time... which is why i doubt he'll do it.
Of course he tries to rationalize it by saying if existing, long-term, undocumented migrant workers are removed, then they'll be replaced by the "murderers from prisons and everything else" - his fall-back excuse.
To be fair, thatâs what happened when I left my job.
You must be really pissed off at Trump for deciding that farming, hotel, and other industries should, as you say ... just give certain illegals a pass based on their circumstances and ignore the law.
Of course he tries to rationalize it by saying if existing, long-term, undocumented migrant workers are removed, then they'll be replaced by the "murderers from prisons and everything else" - his fall-back excuse.
It's hard to believe how little the law means to Trump. Good thing you're going to hold him accountable....I mean... the law is the law is the law.
Itâs mind blowing how a third of the country seems to support a man who - unquestionably - does not respect the USA Constitution. For them to think he belongs in a seat of power, especially when none of that power is helping them (itâs been three months - NO ONE but the Dark State Swamp Elites are any better off) just shows you how easily led and unAmerican those people are.
Itâs tempting to want to listen to their opinion on things, but repeatedly and illogically they espouse ideas that are traitorous.
You just proved my point, that when push comes to shove, you do not make the distinction between legal and illegal. You just give certain illegals a pass based on their circumstances and ignore the law. The law is the law is the law. And the law means nothing to you regarding this.
So maybe you're not a racist. You're just a racist light, depending on the circumstances which would make you at the very least a bigot because you discriminate against certain, but not all illegals.
You have no point.
Youâre a man desperate in search of a clue. You wanna find someone else to drag down to your level and join your racist immigrant haters club? Look elsewhere. I donât know where your life went off the rails to have zero empathy and concern for other human beings.
Oh⦠and in case you havenât noticed⦠laws in general mean nothing to TACO Trump so that argument falls a little flat.
Youâre a real nowhere man.
Sitting in your nowhere land.
Making all your nowhere plans.
For nobody.

I've been saying this here for nearly 20 years now and suddenly you want to know what exactly I mean ? FY.
This is the position I have held since the 60's growing up in California living 70 miles north of the border and has not changed one iota. I have also been against the Anchor Baby thing since then as well. And I have so stated here as well.
This is the position that got me first called a racist here back when Obama was in office. Then supporting the Wall was racist because the Wall was racist.
So now you are a racist, too, if you agree with my definition according to the usual suspects here. Hey veev, you're a racist. Get used to it now that you have admitted it. .
I have no idea where you are coming from but clearly you are deranged and off your meds. I asked for clarification of a statement you made and then made the point that this current administration could give a rat’s ass as to the distinction between illegal immigrants and legal immigrants. Seems to have hit a nerve with you. What you don’t understand is that while I can make the same distinction between illegal and legal immigrants as you… that doesn’t (to me) mean that illegal immigrants trying to sneak in aren’t any less deserving of a chance. Depends upon their particular circumstance. Desperate people can and will do desperate things.
Don’t project your racism on me bud. You got some real demons to fight. Good luck with that.

Please. Quit being coy. It is so unbecoming. You make me state the obvious, at least to me. Legal immigration is when the immigrant makes arrangements with the Department of State to enter the US prior to their arrival. Legal entrance into the US is conducted at a Port of Entry, with passport and visa (when required) already in hand. Any other method of entry is illegal. And those who arrive illegally are subject to removal. Did you think that it could be something else ?
Who is being coy? All I asked was what your definition was. I can’t read your thoughts so I really didn’t know how you defined it. Was that really so hard to do? I happen to agree with that.
But you are aware that this administration doesn’t make that distinction? Any brown-skinned immigrant who hasn’t yet officially become a citizen is fair game to be disappeared to whatever country the plane they put them on is flying to. There are plenty of examples of people who followed the rules and believed they were on a path to citizenship only to have the rug pulled out from under them. So your distinction matters not at the end of the day.
I was actually wondering if you would articulate a position that is at odds with current reality.

So I didn't respond to you in the time frame you required and I get this ? You say that there is no difference between legal and illegal immigration. How can I explain something to you that you believe is impossible to exist or define ?
Talk about twisting things... how in the world are you making inferences into something I didn't say? I never said there was no difference... please note where I did. But again, I'm not the one puffing my chest out and making proclamations.
I simply asked about your stance since you made a pretty big point to say you have a clear delineation between illegal and legal immigrants and that others did not. Plain and simple... what is it? If you are going to step up on a soapbox to make this declaration, how can you be afraid to elaborate when asked about it? Isn't that a natural question that someone might have?

You have a positive vision about America, a notion as to how things should work and what government should (and shouldn't) do. Why not share them and see if we can start a constructive exchange of ideas. We're not always going to agree with each other but at least we'll have a better idea about where the other person is coming from. At the very least, it'd be nice to stop exchanging insults.
Whaddya say?
Do you expect me to share anything meaningful such as what you ask when all that I am going to get from you is Ronald's and Great Pumpkins in return. How stupid do you think I am. And then everyone else will jump in and twist everything I might say 8 ways to next Sunday. There can be no meaningful conversations here because you all only allow one POV to be presented, yours. Everything I might post is either illegitimate or delusional by default before it is even posted.
Tell you what. I'm going to channel Judge Dredd to take on your Judge Roy Bean.
kurtster, a line from your post below: You could not be more wrong. I insist on making the distinction between legal and illegal immigration. No one else here does and refuse to this very day to make that distinction. You have made this point before.
OK, I'll bite. What is your distinction between legal & illegal immigrants? I don't believe I have ever heard you articulate it. If you insist that you hold a clear distinction, please clarify what that is or stop holding this up as a valid talking point. Even a link to a previous post where this was clarified would work. Otherwise, you would fall into the other bucket of the "others" who refuse to make that distinction.
Don't worry kurt.
I wasn't expecting a response. To step up to back up your own statement is clearly a bridge too far.
Go look under the couch for your 'nads in case they rolled under there. Hurry though before the dog sniffs 'em out.

Kurt, this sentence is about the only thing of interest to me from your long post.
"I insist on making the distinction between legal and illegal immigration. No one else here does and refuse to this very day to make that distinction."
I disagree with you here. Some of us (Lazy8, IIRC) don't believe in immigration restrictions. I do, but I think that there should be a path to citizenship—even a roundabout one, perhaps, involving sending people out of the country but allowing them more consideration if they've been peaceful and constructive while in the US.
No one wants to argue with you about who is purer to beliefs or ideology or national interests. It's boring and pointless. HOWEVER:

another impossibly muddled post that mangles the editor on reply.
Not that it matters, because it's not worth the bother.
I'm not normally a fan of the cut and paste, but someone already said it better, so:

Definitely bears repeating. Also something for the rest of us to consider...
Kurt: let's play a positive game. Imagine that you had a great power to influence/change the Democratic party. How would you change it? What programs besides stronger enforcement of immigration laws would you like to see enacted? How can the Democratic party help and heed the average American?
Your voice matters.
My voice matters not here. It is unwanted. That has been made more than clear.
That quote from islander really pissed me off. As if I am a slacker having nothing better to do in my life. I wrote a long reply and sat on it as time moved forward, but I did save it.
So try this on for size ... from May 21st

Convictions ? You take both sides of every issue.
No empathy for others ? Which others ? And based on what ? Your image of who or what you think I am ? It is well known what you think of me. You disagree with everything I say 99.99% of the time.
You have declared over and over again that it is your life's work to keep me on the straight and narrow here, being my personal fact checker.
Stop trying to bullshit the bullshitter.
I travel a lot, but I maintain a residence in the states. Not sure why this matters so much to you, but you're frequently incorrect when assessing my living arrangements.
I take the moral side on every issue. I often re-assess to ensure that I'm not aligned with immoral people. I won't automatically change my position then, but I will evaluate what everyone's goals are at that point.
Based on your professed love of policies that hurt others, and your continued glee over 'burn it all down' and 'head's assploding'. I disagree with you because you are often on the wrong side of arguments, you lack empathy for your fellow humans, especially the ones that don't look exactly like you. You've demonstrated this over and over again.
Hah, my life's work has nothing to do with you. Nice try though. I, like many others dread the times we are forced to drop in an rebut your frequently wrongheaded statements. We do it so they don't stand and have people consider them having any merit.
Why don't you stop trying to be something you're not. Go out in the world and help someone or something else. The world is about more than you. If you experience it that way, you may feel less attacked by all that happens every day.
You have made my point.
I take the moral side on every issue.
Spoken like a true elitist. There's a luxury very few can afford. That is the rationalization for avoiding hard choices. Just how many politicians pass your purity test ? Names please.
And just whose morality do you use ? Based upon your own statement ...
I often re-assess to ensure that I'm not aligned with immoral people. I won't automatically change my position then, but I will evaluate what everyone's goals are at that point.
your morality is no better than shifting sands. Expedient at best. More like amoral.
The biggest problem I see with you is that you have no principals or core values. I say that because you state that the messenger is more important than the message with that you "re-assess to ensure that I'm not aligned with immoral people." This reads like you will always throw the baby out with the bath water. And again the morals you use are based upon what ? Certainly your morals do not involve any principals. Pretty clear; cut and dry.
you lack empathy for your fellow humans, especially the ones that don't look exactly like you. You've demonstrated this over and over again.
You could not be more wrong. I insist on making the distinction between legal and illegal immigration. No one else here does and refuse to this very day to make that distinction. This is the primary basis that everyone here uses to call me racist, xenophobic and fascist as far as I can tell. And I am guessing also the reason for calling me unempathetic. The first attacks on me used the premise that walls are racist. This is where principals enter into the picture. One of my core principals is, no borders, no country. That is the message. has been for decades. I voted for the messenger of that message because it is of primary importance and a core principal. The messenger has delivered on that promise. No one else had that message or even paid it lip service. Your belief system tells you that the messenger is unacceptable, therefore the message is unacceptable. Anyone coming here illegally takes a shit on this country by doing so and deserves to be removed immediately, regardless of who they are or where they are from. That makes me racist, right ? I don't really understand because the person coming here illegally is making that choice, not me. The world is not ready for the big blue dot and certainly not this country looking at all the problems caused by the recent invasion of well over 12 million new invaders, again their choice.
You yourself have attacked merit based approaches for regulating immigration. You are on the record for outright rejection of meritocracy period, which as a business man is most perplexing because it put less qualified people in jobs over more qualified people.
I disagree with you because you are often on the wrong side of arguments,
Says you. Just because you are in the majority here doesn't make you always right. Yet this is how you behave. There are at least 70 million people who agree with me in the real world and your statement to me says that you believe they are all wrong, too. As in always wrong. I do not believe that you are capable of interacting on a site that allows all views to be expressed. You are too protected and comfortable here feeling that you can say anything you like knowing that you will be backed up and supported. You would fold up like a cheap suit at a place where all views have equal footing and there would be an equal amount who agree and disagree with you. Here you don't have to defend yourself. You all think alike.
I, like many others dread the times we are forced to drop in an rebut your frequently wrongheaded statements. We do it so they don't stand and have people consider them having any merit.
Yeah yours, aka : the majority POV here, is the only one that matters. Sounds authoritarian, even dictatorial to me. And funny you using the word merit. How dare you when you so openly oppose the idea of merit to begin with. Again see the previous statement above.
Why don't you stop trying to be something you're not. Go out in the world and help someone or something else. The world is about more than you. If you experience it that way, you may feel less attacked by all that happens every day.
This is where you really reveal your true arrogance and "moral" superiority, not to mention ignorance and insensitivity. But then again, the standard here is to judge people solely based upon their politics and nothing else.
I presently have my hands full providing care for my wife, her son and myself. I no longer have to do so for my Mother as she passed in April. The three of us are all officially disabled in the eyes of the Social Security Administration, all with our own health issues. Jr just had his 6th back surgery a week ago and just earlier today I underwent the mapping procedure for targeting the radiation which begins a week from this Thursday. I now have my first real tattoos. I am now averaging a doctors visit 2 times a week for the past several months. Toss in an ugly probate scenario and tell me again how I have time for anything else. Oh yeah, I still work a couple of days to make ends meet.
You all think all that I do is sit around playing records all day and howl at the moon and tilt at windmills.
