A different party system: proportional representation. Though current stakeholders are unlikely to approve.

I wonder if most North Americans prefer to see political elections as winner takes all sporting events.

It is hard to imagine adapting the current American system to one of proportional representation.  In this respect, I expect the USA to remain 'exceptional'.

Yes; both of the major political parties in this country are horrifically corrupt. The party system has to go.

Same. Although now the tech would allow for it to be very much like it was written without looking too cheesy.

So, go right now and add "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levin to your summer reading list. He wrote Rosemary's Baby and Boys From Brazil and Kiss Before Dying and Stepford Wives and a lot of other great stuff. But Perfect Day is my favorite.

Levin is the king of "I didn't expect that!" so all I'll say about the plot is that it's a dystopia, and our hero wants out, and he figures out a way.

No doubt, but how to go about it? The parties control all the levers of power, from fundraising to primaries, and partisans are unlikely to relinquish them. The Founders saw this coming.
