This should scare the bejeezus out of the rest of the field.  If this holds, Biden is the only option.  This is how they say a wrap.

Yes.  The world can be a very nuanced place.

I oppose illegal immigration.  I oppose high net immigration rates.  I care about neighbourhood 'social capital' and real per capita income and wealth.   But I also support treating everybody including nasty criminals with respect and human dignity.

Self-styled progressives and liberals should make an effort to understand how they contribute to unnecessary polarization and violent conflict.

LGBTQ advocates slam Buttigieg for past history with Salvation Army

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is facing criticism online from some members of the LGBTQ+ community and gay rights advocates after images of the South Bend, Ind., mayor volunteering with the Salvation Army resurfaced online Tuesday.

LGBTQ+ publication Out published a story Tuesday with some of the critical tweets, which spurred more pushback from some activists who called out the Democrat for volunteering with an organization that has a history of opposing gay rights.

I agree.  I have been over the decades a fellow-travelling companion of the Roman Catholic Church.  Why?   Because the RC church cares about poor people.  Because the RC church often becomes involved in significant existential social movements like the peace & disarmament movement in the 1980s.

I am a secular agnostic who worships animals, trees and rocks.  I oppose many of the Catholic Church's dogma and policies.  So?

Psst.  A little secret.  Secular lay folks have been helping out the Roman Catholic church for a very long time.  Ain't nothing new folks.

Barack Obama, conservative
The left and the right still misunderstand his politics.
Given the political climate, it’s no surprise to see the party’s base clamoring for something dramatic. But the contrast between Obama’s steady approach and the seeming radicalism of his Democratic heirs can’t just be chalked up to changing times. It’s because the former president, going back at least to his 2004 Senate race, hasn’t really occupied the left side of the ideological spectrum. He wasn’t a Republican, obviously: He never professed a desire to starve the federal government, and he opposed the Iraq War, which the GOP overwhelmingly supported. But to the dismay of many on the left, and to the continuing disbelief of many on the right, Obama never dramatically departed from the approach of presidents who came before him.

There’s a simple reason: Barack Obama is a conservative.

Au contraire, thank God he had dark skin and he managed to anger people while maintaining full decorum and acting like the most refined, civilized person you could imagine.    Obama's value as a role model —  for everybody — is difficult to fully grasp.

There are a number of things I didn't like about Obama's policies and think he shouldn't have rolled over to Mitch McConnell so easily. but he was an inspiring leader.

Maybe, I certainly hope not or we are in trouble indeed.   It is a double edged sword.  He was overly praised and overly criticized because of the color of his skin and the extreme partisan nature of our politics.  I thought he was a pretty good President overall, said the right thing, wore a tux well, looked regal and had a good photographer and what not,   but that is damning with faint praise considering I think that most of our President's suck due to the nature of the job and the process it takes to get there.

Canadians  really liked Obama.  The affection and respect were genuine.

If Canadians really like an American president, maybe that is a good reason for many American voters to strongly dislike the president.

Think of it as the Canadian political kiss of death.    Not as bad as direct Russian interference but almost as toxic.
