I'm kind of on the fence about this one but I don't have a dog in the hunt so I should shut up. Chief Wahoo and the rest of the imagery is where it gets bad. As opposed to the Redskins, where the logo was respectfully done by a Blackfeet leader.
I like the "Washington Football Team" change but it's going to be ridiculous if any other franchise follows that line of thinking.
I vote for Cleveland Rocks.
There was a Cleveland Spiders baseball team in the late 19th century - cool name.
That's a pretty awesome name. Wiki: Longest winning streak their last year: 2 games. They achieved that one time. Cy Young started with them. They're the reason there's a rule against owning more than one team.
I think they should return to their last name....The Naps... named for Hall Of Fame player and manager Nap Lajoie. Spiders is fine too. I'd also go for the Browns...get that whole 2 sport, 1 name thing working again. Cardinals...Giants...why not Browns?
They could use the HOF branding and be the Rockers. Or maybe the Rockettes
Ah.
Colorado already owns the Rockies, the Rockpile, lots of things to do with rocks, so it probably won't go so well. Of course, I hate the Rockies' name so maybe we can get them to take the Gray Jays or Camp Robbers like I wanted in the first place.
But I see Beaker's home team is veddy smaht...
There used to be a team in Thunder Bay, Canada called the Whiskey-Jacks, which is a far better name for Gray Jays

Naps would be too confusing because of the Nats in Washington.

The St. Louis Browns became what are now the Baltimore Orioles.

When they say GM now they mean "person who implements the corporate strategy" so expect Jeter et al to be backing her up. I think she's got more chances for success than a team that says "New GM so we'll just sit back for a few years and do nothing."
I don't know why but I think it looks like a good time to be a Marlins fan.
nice to on the bleeding edge...and not be embarrassed about it
Marlins hire Kim Ng as general manager, making her the first woman and first Asian-American GM in MLB history
The Miami Marlins on Friday announced they hired Kim Ng to oversee baseball operations as general manager. This makes Ng (pronounced ANG) the first Asian-American GM in MLB history and she is believed to be the first woman GM of any professional men's sports team in North America, according to the Marlins.
I'd never heard of her but she's been in MLB for 30 years, so right out of college she got hired on. That gives me a feeling she's smarter than the rest of them put together.

ok, not quite a game, but still interesting (great backstory)
because engineering
go trash pandas!
Ah, it started 7 or 8 minutes in; the first time I looked at it there was no explanation of anything, just them geeking out. This one ^^^ should start at the start...
Welp, hats off, I guess. I like Kevin Cash AND I understand the reasoning so I'm not going to say that was stupid but if you're going to play it by the book no matter what, what do they pay a manager for?
I just clapped at the TV and I don't have The Clapper™
There's a picture that I hope someone got, they only showed that angle once in replay, of Arozarena diving for the plate with a look on his face like he found $5 in a coat pocket he'd forgotten about.
I was not saddened by this development. Glasnow can be a monster when he locates his pitches correctly, he has great stuff, but command hasn't been there recently. Kershaw has a pretty well documented history of not being the greatest post game pitcher. May be looking at another 8-7 game.
