It's been a year since we had any decent poetry around here, but listening to this guy audibly groan when Houston scores a run is irritating and somewhat amusing at the same time.

I never watch postgame shows but I left the TV on and got a laugh when they were talking about whether Glasnow was tipping his pitches. Frank Thomas tells Dontrelle Willis "when your knee came up to your chest, I knew a curveball was coming; when your knee hit your ear, fastball." Willis comes back with "and if it was in between, it's a fastball gonna cut some bacon off ya."

Was Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow tipping pitches to the Astros?

Never gets old

Altho to be fair, this was on Roberts. You don't bring in your Ace in relief unless you're desperate for outs. Bochy/Bumgarner made it look like a genius move but Roberts wasn't backed into a corner. Shoulda danced with the guys what brung him.

Nats vs Cards should be a fun series. Gotta love they took out the 1 and 2 seeds, albeit in 5 games... Nats send a nice FY to Bryce Harper and are probably pretty happy they didn’t throw over $300 mil at him.

I like Houston tonite, TB beating Cole would be a huge upset. Either he or Verlander are locks for Cy Young, could arguably be co-winners, and he’s going on normal rest. If they do win they’ll likely go Grienke, Verlander on normal rest then Cole in Game 3. That’s pretty much 180 degrees from what they’d like, again, this is where ya end up with 5 game opening series.

Enough of me bitching, good luck to whatever team you root for. {#Drummer}

Yep just as I predicted Nationals vs. Cardinals in the NLCS.  Now just waiting on Tampa to seal the deal so I can be 100% on all picks said no one on the planet.{#Mrgreen}

Joe Kelly, 23.14 ERA. Gives up a grand slam to hand the Nats a trip to the NLCS. Yeah, I'd say the Red Sox let him go at just the right time.

The city of Raleigh has been campaigning for a MLB team for a while.
  The Durham Bulls Triple-A team draws among the top in minor-league attendance most years, so baseball wouldn't be a hard sell in this area (the "Triangle").  There are probably a lot of infrastructure things to work out I imagine.

So. 4 games, 4 potential Division Series winners but only 1 sealed it today. That's pretty crazy! NL is causing me to chuckle a little bit. On the inside. When no one's looking. I have so many LA friends who're in agony right now... love it!

Tampa Bay needs to be relocated, their attendance of ~ 14K/game is an absurd 29th, only ahead of truly suck Miami, and behind Baltimore FFS. Screw Fla altogether for MLB, a large portion of the population is retirees and they simply aren’t going to pay the $$. Great place for Spring Training, but that’s it.
NC would be a great target for TB and maintains division alignment, so another area needs to be in play for expansion. Nashville could be a good spot, already supporting the NHL and NFL. Montreal keeps coming up, but has warts - if all was rosy the Nats wouldn’t exist...
Just my thoughts, I obviously have no say in the solution.

I will throw one last shot at the current playoff setup tho... If anything gripes me more than the Wild Card playoff it’s the 5 game LDS.  This needs to be 7 games STAT. And the easiest way I see of doing that is to shitcan the 2cd Wild Card. Expansion is the ultimate solution, but is likely a 2-3 year startup.

I thought the Devil Rays were gonna take that one. Houston might sweep but they're gonna know they were in a contest.

Yeah, I heard about that.

 I think we could do worse and likely will.  I think I'd prefer him to that other former Cubs catcher that keeps getting mentioned.  I think he's been tainted by his long exposure to the Yankees.  As I said I was happy with Joe and would like to have seen him stay.  I certainly don't see him as being responsible for the less than hoped for outcomes the last two years, but as I said that is more often as not the case with managers getting canned.  When we were in our mid 40s a friend of mine pointed out that he had been a Dodger fan for as long as he could remember and had only known two managers.  I don't know how they did it or of anyone else that's ever come close.

 Yes, it does seem to be an annual occurrence and once again the executive summary is a one game playoff is an abomination, expanding to 32 teams fixes almost everything without really trying, and as long as we have 30 this is just about the best we can do.  I can see how you might favor just going on the best overall record, but you have to remember not all of us get to play the Orioles 19 times a season.  Imagine for a moment how you might have felt about chasing the the Rays for that wild card spot if you and Seattle swapped divisions and they had a schedule with 57 games against the O's, Jays, and Mariners as opposed to your 20 and 12 or 13 against the Astros and As as opposed to your 38.   Not that this hasn't always been an issue with the wild card.  A better system in my book would have been to just go with the second place team in the division with the best overall record against the other two.  Of course this is subject to the same sort of abuse that caused us to go to the one game playoff in the first place so you would still need a one game playoff of the two best divisions or maybe a two game single elimination with all three seeded by division records.
