Plenty of female energy here.

As a woman, I approve this message.

I do love les chanteuse. Angsty female vocalists, not to mention woman fronted bands. There are a number in the rp library, but I don't know how much airplay they get. Throwing out some that may or not be in the library:

Billy Eilish, Jess Cornelius, Sleater-Kenney, Ella Hooper, Courtney Barnett. I'm sure there are more
Yes to the Courtney Barnett.

I don't argue the idea that there are more male voices on RP than female, but I do think a 50/50 split isn't possible. More importantly, I think RP does an outstanding job of keeping the balance more fair than any other music outlet with the possible exception of a few stations like KEXP. A quick look at the recent RP playlist has a dozen female names that I'm not familiar with so think those newer artists haven't landed in my conscious yet. Meaning my brain probably hasn't sorted them into genders so when I think of female artists vs All Others, the All Others column will include male singers PLUS all those bands I haven't yet gendered.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been listening to RP for close to twenty years now — it’s honestly been the soundtrack to so many parts of my life. I have huge respect for what RP have built here and for the care that goes into every mix. It’s a special thing.

That said, I’ve started to notice that most of what I hear on the rock mix leans pretty heavily toward male artists or male-fronted bands. Totally fine — I love the selection — but every now and then I find myself craving a few more female voices in the rotation.

Maybe some of those powerhouse moments that hit you right in the gut — Stevie Nicks, Heart, Alanis Morissette, Garbage, The Cranberries, Florence + The Machine, or even newer acts like The Last Dinner Party or The Beaches.

Not trying to start a gender debate, just floating the idea that a bit more balance could make the mix even richer.

Anyone else feel the same way? Or have suggestions for female-led tracks that would blend beautifully with RP’s sound?

✨ Cheers from a grateful long-timer

Yes to Florence + The Machine.
Love the "The Dog Days Are Over" the mostest.

And I prefer women over men.
