A person who's really sharp could maybe come up with a widget that can see the "announcement" tag come and immediately dump the volume to normal speaking voice because it sure does cause an outcry when the volume's way up.
or include in the monthly receipt email (already happening i think)
or have an option for donors to get the direct stream
i'd like to thank you for thanking your parents (see my comment below)
i think the flip side might might be from sort of a purist angle
say you're really into music and have a nice audiophile setup
you're digging a fantastic set/stream/flow and then "interruptured" by a message you've heard many times before
either way this might classified as a first world problem

My parents taught me to always say please and thank you.
Of course, that was back in the day when people had a little bit more manners.

Since youâre wondering, I think this is a nitpicky complaint. Short comments from William are cool with me, I like hearing from him a bit. I remember way back when he had a camera set up at his DJ station & we could watch him at work when he was around. Iâm not interested in messing with the magic that makes this place a music paradise.

I don't know what others think but I really do hate the thank you messages inserted here and there. It serves no other purpose other than to make one single listener kind of happy or proud (?) - if they even hear it - while 100000 others just have to endure it. I can't figure out what brought RP to do this, but this does not belong here.
If anyone from RP is reading this, thank you for taking note.

For some reason I think I remember William saying that they try to keep voice announcements down to .45 minutes per hour. 27 seconds. While I agree that any station break can be distracting and so seems more frequent and longer than it really is, that number brought it home just how much of the problem is in my own head. As per usual.
.45 minutes per hour is nothing.
Coast to Coast AM has gotten so bad that you might get 18 minutes of content per half hour.
Not that they are apples and oranges ... maybe apples and rocks ...

Why did we do this? To see what it would sound like. Seriously.
Everything here is experimental and subject to change. In this particular case, the change is already underway. "What's the point?" was my takeaway, as was Alanna's.
But often, for us to even know that a thing is annoying, first we need to do it enough for it to start to annoy *us*. Sticking with what we know for sure won't annoy anyone is a recipe for boring radio.
Actually, this was tried a long while ago with the same result. Rambling blather. Let's box this idea and put it in the bin. Please. Thank you.
