KEXP is an excellent choice for exposure to new releases, as are KCRW and KCSN in LA, and (sometimes) NYC's WFUV.

We definitely still feature new releases, but we don't make that quite as much of a priority as some other stations do.

My question here, why just all the old stuff? Plus, what I'm finding in the song lists is bland, in my opinion. Can this be blamed on the listeners, or is it because there aren't individual dj tastes incorporated?

There are ten requests in my queue entered yesterday. Curious to see if they get picked up.

Reading a playlist is a terrible way to judge a station. If your eye spots a lot of songs you consider "bland" and skips over things that you don't immediately recognize, what do you think your impression will be? Bland.

The "request" function is kind of interesting but I don't think it ever yields adds these days.

I think that Radio Paradise offers a pretty good mix of everything but (stating the obvious) musical taste is very individual.  When I do feel as if the Radio Paradise stream I am listening to sounds a little repetitive or I'm just not "feelin' it" I will pop over to: https://www.kexp.org/ current playlist here: https://www.kexp.org/playlist/

The station is based out of Seattle I believe and they have a very eclectic mix of many new artists that I have only heard played there. I will cleanse my palate there but always wind up coming back here anyway.

You may have simply hit a particular stream of older music. FWIW, almost every new artist I've been turned on to for the past 15 years has been through RP. What gets recommended to me by iTunes or Amazon, etc rarely hits my sweet spot. I don't share your impression that RP is mostly old stuff - it's all over the map, and that's one of the reasons I love it.

We switch from channel to channel hoping to hear something new, but instead end up hearing the same cuts over and over again. Very disappointing.  We dont have time to constantly be going back to the computer to hit 'play something else.'  We have found ourselves looking to other sources, but so far nothing compares to the old RP.  Please bring back your great exploratory mixes like you used to serve up.

I've found that the "Main Mix" is more likely to be where one would hear new music and obviously a greater variety.  The other channels, because they are more genre-specific, will tend to have more "established" songs and shorter overall playlists - thereby, more repetition.  Perhaps at some point, RP may develop a "new music" channel.

 freewave,
if you look at the song menu page you will see the word  "channel", hit  the green field box next to it and you get a drop down menu with 3 different streaming music styles plus an option to listen to your very own personal music choices selected over time.
Note , you also have a skip option if you do find something being played on that stream not to your liking.
