All good questions.   Lots of ways to get from a to b.
The apps benefits are mostly around  offline  usage and some Google stuff  like  Chromecast and Android Auto.  

Most Android  browsers should be using the same decoder as the app,  but  I can't be sure about that.   So trust your ears.
And as Bill mentioned,  in the web player settings  it has all the same bitrates available as the app.

Regarding the app stopping.
There is one other thing you can try.

In the app.   From main screen.
- click the cloud icon.
- click tap to edit pencil
- move slider to around an hour
- check,  keep these settings
- click save

This will try to keep a large number of songs buffered  while playing.

In my opinion the sound quality of the RP app is much better, much richer. I have the possibility to even switch to FLAC (my preferred format).
I would be more than happy if I could get the app streaming without stopping all the time.

When RP app is open, all other apps are closed.

I then closed the RP app and opened RP through the web browser ... and there it plays nonstop without any interruptions.

That setting has moved around a lot,  but is  generally in the device's settings under battery.   ( there will be a list of optimized apps,  make sure rp is not in the list and  then reboot the device)

Another thing you can  try if  the  device has a web browser  is  try playing via the website.
For around  the house it  supports everything the app does.   If the  website also has stopping issues,   it's probably  networking related and something we can investigate.

The only device I am facing a streaming issue is my new dap.
Wifi streaming of Spotify, YouTube music videos is not a problem at all, even Linn Radio (320 kbps MP3) is not a problem at all. Therefore I think the router settings are correct.
Just RP simply keeps stopping, sometimes several times within one song, the other time after playing  3 or 4 songs. Honestly this is quite frustrating and I have no idea what it could be.
And, RP stream stops no matter which WiFi playback quality is set.
RP won't start again when I just touch the play button, I first have to touch "sync" and choose the Main Mix Channel again.

Following some key data/settings:
RP version installed: 4.3.8
DAP model: Shanling M6Pro with customized Android 7.1.1 open source, data usage WIFI+cell, cache options WIFI+Cell, cache autofill/managed channel RP Main Mix set to 5 hours
Router used: AVM FritzBox 7590 with wifi mesh steering, FW 7.20 (same experience with FW 7.19), Download >60 Mbit/s, Upload >12 Mbit/s, Ping time 16,6 ms, jitter 0,38 ms

I would be great if anybody could help as I don't want to do without RP.
