One of my neighbors that splits between living here and in FL just found out her house in FL has 5 feet of water in it. She has no insurance because she said they wanted $10k for flood insurance. Just helped her get a flight back there so she can see what might be salvageable.

Storm surge predicted at 9 feet in Lake Charles (so it'll flood your second floor apartment), possibly 20 feet in Cameron near the coast, plus there's all the sewerage and wildlife in the water. Horribly dangerous. My brother's place was on 4 foot pillars, so it's certainly gonna be gone. (He's in FL and safe) This is gonna be extraordinarily bad.

Mexico Beach was where one of those

Try Facebook and the pages for the sheriff's or specific county emergency center (Gulf County Sheriff, etc)

Yep, my favorite region for oysters. I am from Charleston, but prefer Apalachicola.

Still, this storm is at Category 4 - I wouldn't have been sticking around.
if a person is at risk
that person should have a plan, especially if responsible for other people
