Greenwald is wrong on the matter of planning: there was extensive online planning weeks before the rally started. Sorry if the protesters weren't organized or armed enough to merit your disapproval, Glenn.

I'm having real trouble reading/stomaching that counterpunch.org screed that you linked to. For some  reason the author wants to drag into the matter dark visions of America's "institutions of state power", it's "endless" wars, blah blah blah.
I linked to counterpunch mainly to show where my material came from, but this last point seems real enough:

"Noam Chomsky and Vijay Prashad warn of three world existential crises: nuclear annihilation, climate catastrophe, and neoliberal destruction of the social contract. The ruling class is preparing for a real insurrection and, given the alternative, the people may not disappoint them."

All you have to do is look at the "anti-sound walls" being built around every inch of the Capital Beltway, and I-95 between NYC and DC. They look more like anti-sniper walls to me.

But see: “There is a huge difference,” observes Glenn Greenwald, “between, on the one hand, thousands of people shooting their way into the Capitol after a long-planned, coordinated plot with the goal of seizing permanent power, and, on the other, an impulsive and grievance-driven crowd more or less waltzing into the Capitol as the result of strength in numbers and then leaving a few hours later.”

that may be true, but whether it was planned or accidental...it still occurred.
an example needs to be made.
