Yes, it's different as a percentage of GDP, but I'd say that regardless of gdp, we would be better off spending less on blowing stuff up.  Yes, it's a jobs program, but why not a peace corps? Or simply a civilian infrastructure support company that would enable our economy?  When we spend so much on a military hammer, we look for a military nail to use it on. Let's spend on some real hammers and nails and see if we can make some nice stuff instead. Maybe give some of that stuff away to people who are mad at us for blowing up their stuff so they will spend less trying to blow our stuff up?

I'm not the only one. But I do feel like I'm in the minority.

Around here, Bernie Sanders is the "free stuff" guy. Nothing is free, it's simply a matter of what you choose to spend the money on; he would rather it be spent on improving the lives of people instead of slaughtering them.

Interesting to note, combining our spending with our "allies & partners" we are out spending Russia and China more than 3:1

i'm trying to understand why people feel the need to tell everyone else what to do and how to live

force, violence and coercion?

disgusting...

and nothing else matters until you stop threatening, harming and whacking folks

when leaders use violence on peaceful people they lose all trust and credibility

ill have to run it by OV to make sure it's philosophically correct

in most politics it's all about your story and storytelling skills

it's an emotional sales job (usually fairy tales* for socially trained/conditioned adults)

just have a good sales pitch that appeals to the masses and the approval of corporations/tribes (media, unions, industry, welfarians, etc.)

once elected you can do almost anything as long as you grease/reward your voters (it's mainly about the short term)

you can borrow and spend into oblivion with reckless abandon, murder innocent people with flying robots, etc. doesn't matter

as long as you smile, look good, speak well and payoff or promise to payoff the people who vote

same stage, same basic framework with different characters

*Fairy Tales are stories involving fantastic forces, usually good versus evil, most originating in folklore, mythology, and legend. They feature fantasy beings like dragons, dwarfs, fairies and talking animals. They aren't just for kids. In fact, many are complex morality tales; some are graphic or morbid, and shouldn't be read to children at all. We recommend previewing stories before reading with your children.
i've noticed that those paying proper attention the general thought is politicians are full of poop and have little or no credibility

politics has a huge credibility issue

not sure where i'm going with this

please help...

I know what you mean; it is healthy when members stir things up in their own parties.  Sometimes it doesn't work out so well at first for some people but generally it is best to make the "old guard" uncomfortable.

Well, within reason, I guess.  Any party could do without someone like Roy Moore as a member.

I'm tired of the olds.  Warren is 70 years old today. It's time for some younger people. Hell, I'm oldish and I'd be thrilled to have someone with my basic generational view in there (Obama almost qualifies, but he's still technically a boomer).

Let go. let some new ideas in. It's time.
