I was going to put this in the things you thought forum, but it seems too political.

The combined age of the 3 democratic front runners is 223 years. Add in Trumps 73 and the combined ages of the four people likely to be our next president is 296 years! Why are there no young people in contention?

Clinton was 46 when elected (3rd youngest).

Joe Biden isn’t just a gaffe machine. He’s the Lamborghini of gaffes.
Some say it’s unfair to draw attention to Biden when President Trump is the most mendacious politician ever. I disagree: Biden’s gaffes are to be  celebrated, for they make him exciting. When he opens his mouth, nobody knows what is going to come out — least of all Biden.

Yesterday, I announced that, as president, I'll establish a priority airline boarding program for Atheists who open a charity that operates for 14 years in the Heartland.

That one sentence description strikes me as both accurate and useful.

BTW, which term carries more freight "incompetent" or "stupid"?  Or, in a case like this, should both be used to get the point across?

Incompetence can be fixed with proper education or training.

It is known, you can't fix stupid.

But they get to leave pointing the finger and saying 'see, I was right'.

They don't promote your particular vision of government but they are fine with using it to advance their aims.  They aren't anarchists, they just want to use that power toward different ends.

They also aren't clever enough to play as subtle a game as you accuse them of. These are deeply, deeply stupid people.

It's not incompetence. They are actively taking actions to get these outcomes.  Best case it's simply a case of mis-aligned incentives. Worst case it's active, spiteful maleficence. Reality is probably halfway in between.

I dunno islander.  I have spent some time with freedom, anti-government types.  They are almost without exception favourable to national defence, law enforcement and keeping public highways safe.

Not budgeting correctly to plow the snow and ice from the dangerous roads of Helena in winter.

As a question of political strategy, I would be inclined to emphasize the incompetence which in this case could easily have deadly consequences.   Ideological rules of thumb almost invariably lead to bad outcomes.

  1. Not budgeting correctly to plow the snow and ice from the dangerous roads of Helena in winter. This led the sheriff’s office to call a state of emergency on February 10th, 2017. Schools were closed and multiple accidents occurred.
  2. In 2015 Smith did not support the removal of the Confederate Monument (he has since bowed to public pressure.) He said a descriptive sign would suffice but never paid for one to be made.
  3. Smith continually underfunds essential services in the city of Helena like firefighting and road maintenance. The Helena firefighters have been below adequate staff levels for years, which led the Helena Firefighters IAFF Local 448 to endorse Smith’s opponent in the 2017 Mayoral race.
  4. Smith supports Tim Ravndal and ACT for America in their blatantly bigoted ideas and actions.

Or....   maybe some of us are putting the cart before the horse so to speak.

Racism and other forms of 'us versus them' outlooks can be grouped under the title of 'confirmatory bias'.  In stronger and extreme cases, that implies the individual has trouble learning.   So perhaps the  glaring incompetence should come as no surprise.
