is nothing sacred?

Australian government to ban Ticketmaster dynamic pricing and other sleazy practices

The federal government has announced it will ban dynamic pricing, a controversial tactic which drives prices up when demand increases, following a Four Corners' investigation.

It's also committed to outlawing hidden fees in concert tickets and drip pricing where extra costs are "added throughout the stages of a purchase".

Four Corners revealed that Live Nation's ticketing arm Ticketmaster and its competitor Ticketek are charging music fans hidden fees for concert tickets that are included within the overall cost price.

Live Nation has also used "dynamic pricing" in Australia — most recently for Green Day's tour, where some fans paid up to $500 for a ticket — and has flagged plans to expand its use of the practice.

Australian artists told Four Corners those extra fees are not trickling down to them, as many musicians struggle to make a living from live touring.

Ticketmaster should be banned everywhere, period.

Zero additional fees! Ticketmaster, or others, usually add $10-20 per ticket, so when you see $60 tickets you know that really means $75.

Ticketmaster is operating its own secret ticket scalper program

Damning report claims the Live Nation subsidiary has been working with ticket scalpers all along

The scam sees scalpers purchasing tickets from Ticketmaster, then reselling them at a higher price on Ticketmaster’s own secondary market platform TradeDesk. Under this scenario, Ticketmaster successfully inflates ticket prices and successfully profits not once, but twice — first on the fees of the initial ticket sale to scalpers, then on the fees captured during the pricier resale transactions made on TradeDesk.

Check Your Ticketbastard Account, You Probably Have Free Tickets Waiting

It’s easy to check—just log in to your Ticketmaster account and click “Active Vouchers.” The vouchers are only valid for a limited list of eligible events, of course.
Their
list of eligible events is currently a dead link.

I have 13 tickets and 13 discounts. How about you?

4 discounts and 8 vouchers. I need to have to hubby check his account when he gets up, if he has one.

Re: the dead link, I found an article from last night that says:  Ticketmaster said on Twitter Sunday that it could not say when the list will be available, "but we expect it to be soon."

Edit:  found this Live Nation page with a link to a page where you can sign up to be updated as eligible events are added.
