The Engineering club T-shirt at Uni read 'Munce ago I cudent even spel injenier, but now I are wun!'
In a slightly more interesting vein the Riding Society's read 'Sticks and stones may break my bones, but whips and spurs excite me!'
MathSoc had 'Hyperbolics, parabolics and all other types of ....'

Yeah, the "after" makes it sort of unclear; how much "after" - an hour, a day?

Our local news always, but always, puts 'as' in the clickbait headline, so 'Ambulance attends as fight breaks out' which similarly implies that arrival of the service/police/whatever made it all kick off!

The tense bothers me. This reads as if he was killed after saving the kids. Wouldn't it be more correct to say:

...In some instances, the term “gyre” is used to refer to the collections of plastic waste and other debris found in higher concentrations in certain parts of the ocean. While this use of "gyre" is increasingly common, the term traditionally refers simply to large, rotating ocean currents.

Yeah, I wish she'd given more of the sort of examples that many of us have to see or hear all the time - awful corporate terms like monetize, synergize, ideate, actionable, leverage (as a verb),  incentivize, etc...

My favorite is The Mission Statement in which they do all of the above...

Made me think of some good writing by Orwell, on empire.

"Marrakech”

As the corpse went past the flies left the restaurant table in a cloud
and rushed after it, but they came back a few minutes later.
