The part that fascinates me is the objective of returning to Anglo-Saxon architecture. I think this came up before during trump's reign when they wanted all new federal buildings to look suitably Teutonic. As a friend said to me when showing me the DC WWII memorial, "If your father saw this he would probably ask who won the war" and that was during the Obama times.
Albany, Apr 9 (AP) In the largest program of its kind, New York lawmakers have created a USD 2.1 billion fund to aid workers who lost jobs or income during the coronavirus pandemic but were excluded from other government relief programs because of their immigration status.
The fund, which passed this week as part of the state budget, will give payments of up to USD 15,600 to workers who were living in the country illegally and weren''t eligible for federal stimulus checks, unemployment aid, or other benefits.
As many as 300,000 workers might benefit, according to some estimates.
I am sure there are some people that are against immigration. I may have even met some in my life though I can't recall. Seems to be a small fringe sub set that would be against immigration. Are there any here?
Sometimes you post things that lead me to believe you don't get out much. But then on further reflection, sure, most of the people who I'd classify as anti-immigration are really for immigration in a very narrow set of circumstances. International model/escort seems to be okay with even the most strict rules in place. Wealthy and not likely to be a drain on resources tends to get an all access pass, even if they're here to plunder; they're plundering legally. But most of the people who claim to be for legal immigration add a stipulation that they need to "get in line" or do it the way their ancestors didâthere is no line and Ellis Island is a museum now. So no, they're not for immigration despite their protestations otherwise.
Case in point: refugee admissions decreased exponentially during the Trump years. The hidden (hiding in plain sight) agenda.
well that was trump's goal, right? what is the goal of this admin? biden seems to be caught between still restricting immigration, while pandering to his base with empty comments about more humane immigration, which is only hurting migrants, and this country. clearly the messaging has been f'd up, making a bad situation much worse. can either party make a concerted effort to fix the border issue, without making pandering to votes the priority? why not make it relatively frictionless, agree to whatever # of quotas, with harsh penalties for migrants who dont play by the rules, and put it to bed.
US Border: Risking everything for an American dream
US Border: Risking everything for an American dream
After a decline during first year of pandemic, thousands of migrants from Central America are again on the move trying to reach the United States - many of them families or unaccompanied minors.
Joe Bidenâs government has already asked for support from its emergency management agency to help handle a spike in the number of unaccompanied children arriving at the border with Mexico, as the influx of children is straining the system.
The BBC followed some of these migrants on this dangerous journey.
I am actually encouraged by these students responses. If this were just on the street it would be one thing, but on a college campus. This is indeed encouraging that basic common sense does permeate to these students even being bombarded with leftist indoctrination constantly:

trump was only against illegal immigration. He just made most immigration illegal.
Trump was probably the worst president on immigration since Woodrow Wilson, but he couldn't make laws. Congressâfor the last 30 years, anywayâdeserves the blame for that.
And most recent presidents have, frankly, kinda sucked.
No but he can sign executive orders. He used the most extreme interpretation of laws, along with actions that declared things illegal that were not in his execution of the office.
Or do you believe everything is always black and white?

True. Same can be said that most are against illegal immigration the argument on both sides gets conflated with false narratives like open borders / walls and closed borders. when it comes to immigration, half the time i'm not even sure what the sides are arguing about.
