In Texas they (GOP) decided to redistrict whenever they feel like it. Even if Dems make inroads in the state (hey, it could happen), the districts will remain solidly GOP. For example, the City of Austin is diced up by at least five districts, in an attempt to unseat Lloyd Doggett. The GOP in Texas has been trying to get rid of him for many years, with no success.

No reason that incumbents can't get voted out.

The biggest problem is that the Republicans have gerrymandered their districts so that a Republican will always get reelected.

Interestingly, this was shown last night on PBS:

Triangle Fire

The paradox of human behavior: towards the end of the show, they noted that after the fire, the same policemen who (along with prostitutes who had also been hired by the owners) had beaten these factory workers for demonstrating for higher wages, shorter hours, safer working conditions, and the right to organize, leaned out of windows on each floor of the building to make sure the bodies didn't bang against the side of the building as they were lowered by block and tackle to the ground below.

Well, then, we can talk about the Cheney "presidency", if you like.  The Faustian bargain that we entered into after 9/11, giving up some freedom in exchange for the promise of security, was initiated during his "presidency", and has been continued during Obama's, to my great frustration and disappointment.

That is an accurate statement.  I have never understood why Cheney would ever criticize Obama, Obama is acting like the child Cheney never had, seems rather hypocritical. Maybe that is the problem though, Cheney is jealous because Obama is outperforming him in his neocon agenda.

Obama doesn't make up stories to get us into a 10 year war. He hasn't used a national tragedy to line his own pockets.
